If you've been sent a load offer, update it. If you haven't, you're not under load. At least, not that DOT can prove anyway. Tell them you're on the way to the girlfriend 's or something.

    Zata40 and Winnyf1 Thank this.

Im just asking because I was using bol# only and of course, accurate trailer number, which would mean I was good. Now Ill be doing the belt and suspenders approach because better safe than sorry. However, if bol# is all that is needed, that would mean driver had neither, or it wasnt updated which makes me curious on the full story.

Now that I'm actually in my truck looking...

Under the "enter new shipping information" box I always put "LD XXXXXXX FBXXXXXXX" (trip and FB#) Neither of which are on the BOL. So is this wrong? This is how I was showed to do it. Neither are the BOL #. But DOT has looked at my logs before.

    Lowlite Thanks this.

On the paper logs it asks for bol#/manifest#, then next line is shipper and commodity. Says you have to fill out one or the other even though we were told not to leave a line blank. So if youre going to put numbers in, probably best to use the bol# and then the rest if you wanna be safe.

Load # is acceptable. (Or trip number for other companies that use that term). It's just a tracking number in a sense so any receipts, b/l or pay has a way to be tracked and verified. My company wants us to put "glass" or "empty" in the optional remarks.

    Zata40 Thanks this.

When entering an intersection do you a) blast your horn, close your eyes and floor the gas or b) use your turn signal and check for approaching traffic?
