It's all going to Bachmans in Farmington, MN. Saw signs saying loading could take 6 hours but I guess I lucked out on both ends.

I got my truck washed at blue beacon about 2 hours ago. Now I'm sitting in the flying j parking lot. Slowly on my way home... Getting cleaned up and some food.

There is a guy wandering the parking lot in a blue beacon hat and shirt. He approached me and asked how my wash went (it's been about 2 hours). I told him it went well. He said he's the manager and would like to look over my truck real quick if I don't mind. I say sure.

So he checks everything out and says there are a few spots that could have been done better... Mentioned several specific things. Then gave me a card for $10 of my next wash.

Gimmick or not, blue beacon is an A+ establishment in my opinion. Always the fastest and most thorough.

Can anyone comment on how it is to drive line haul, local P&D, or regional out 5 days home 2 out of Coon Rapids, MN? I'm moving to Minneapolis and considering getting into trucking so I'm starting to look at some companies. I plan to get my CDL from a school rather than company training.

you mean....I was a trend setter? Who knew....

This wouldn't happen to be the Beacon in Oak Grove MO would it? A friend said they had him pull just outside the bay, and the manager came out with a towel and wiped down his truck and did a similar inspection...only his was clean. I've seen a couple guys in Beacon shirts walking that same lot he was in a time or two...maybe there is a contest to see which location can get the fewest complaints.

    Winnyf1, Zata40 and Xeres63 Thank this.

Zelek, I really can’t answer about our line haul or regional. I can tell you that they are starting a school at Coon Rapids and can give you contact info for the person responsible if you’d like it.

There are few LTL companies that will take someone without experience. I dont know if magnum does or not, we are self insured so the chances are higher. Usually if they take on a rookie, its in a dock to driver program. You work the dock for x months then move into a truck. Every program is different. Holland has you work the dock until you get your license. Dayton moves you into a class b after dock for a year, then a class a. Youll want to read the fine print because you will be signing a contract. But like the person that got me started on this path, its not a bad way to make a living and he works for R&L p&d. I myself am interested in getting into LTL, helps having all my endorsements.
