Well, Magnum puts enough time on their runs where you can run hard, even on recaps, and still get there early, so this is kind of extra money for nothing. In line haul, its pretty much the same way. Would I like to end my shift sooner? Sure. But when detention kicks in for us after an hour, and from my understanding, detention is our hourly rate. So if it is out of my control, yeah, I'll gladly sit, watch HBO on my phone, and get paid $23-30 an hour for absolutely nothing. As winny would say, that's steak money. But I'll have to see my break down on my check to see what the actual specifics are.

I never minded detention pay as long as it didn’t mess with future appts... unload at 5am... reload at 2 pm.... but your 5am takes till 10am to finish. $45 and you still make your reload... what’s to hate about that? You were gonna wait anyways... rarely did I have it affect future appts. At least Magnum pays whether the shipper/receiver does or not... detention is just part of reefer
Glad you found your niche @supersnackbar
So did IRay Strack and Zata40 Thank this. -
That moment when the vice president sends you a rare PeopleNet message:
VP: what does the temperature on your bills show?
Me: *heart sinks* *oh shoot, what did I do? Oh shoot oh shoot* *checks bills* *checks load offer* *checks reefer setting* wtf it's all correct...
VP: sorry didn't mean to send that to all drivers
*Relief*

There is nothing sweeter in life than screwing HEB out of ten hours detention when your reload isn't till tomorrow anyway.

I’m back down in Texas. Thawing out.
Love this job.
I must have had a thousand pounds of ice on my tractor trailer. Geesh! -
Just made my delivery at 0230 in Aurora. Sat there for an hour, the struggled to find a place to park with around an hour on my clock. The Flying J was packed full, but I made it over to the TA near the center of Denver and luckily found a spot to slip into at 0450.
Had to call After Hours Dispatch for the first time. They set me up on a reload at Fort Collins at 0500, but I didn’t have the hours to make it. So I called and let them know. They just called me and said to go ahead and go up there at 3pm. I told them that I can’t make 3pm cause I can’t start running till 1450 and I need a trailer washout along the way. So they said just go up there as soon as I can. And it’s supposed to deliver tomorrow in Billings but I don’t see making it by 1300 cause I’m gonna have to stop and take a 10 along the way. -
866-857-5749 is the AB automated phone line for loads. Works at any brewery. -
Funny enough I just got off the phone with Matt Miller. He went ahead and told me I just grab it in the morning and deliver it Wednesday, then he has a load for me Wednesday heading to Ohio. Sadly I doubt the weather in Ohio is as nice as the weather in Texas, but I guess I’ll manage
