Holland claims to be the quickest program. Otherwise, the other companies have a program or will pay for your training, but usually only when they need drivers, and after proving yourself and worth the investment. Could be 3-12 months or more, and you will sign a contract. Good news is LTL pays good, but I'd suggest doing line haul. You tend to drive the newer tractors so you can avoid a POS and line haul pays better than city and there is less chance to screw up your DAC. Holland could be a good place to start. Short term pain, long term gain. OD and Dayton are great companies, but I wouldnt be in a rush. 6 months+ but dock workers start at $18+.

Personally, if it takes someone awhile to get a hold of you or to return calls, to me, it looks bad when drivers are in demand.

    Nateman482 Thanks this.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I looked into a lot of the options provided to me and I want to stick with Magnum. They just seem to check all the boxes for what I'm looking for in a company.

I spoke with Magnum HR today and it looks like Doug had to take some extended personal time and they're not sure when the next CDL class is gonna start up again. I'm looking into Interstate Truck Driving School in St. Paul currently, they have good google reviews and seem like a solid option for me. I talked to Tony again and he said call him when I'm getting close to finishing up.

Public service announcement: At least a portion of the Fargo lot is being paved. The section is closed off effective immediately.

    Carry on.

They closed it off so drivers won't wear it out driving on it...pavement isn't cheap

And hopefully you’ll also soon be getting your own drivers lounge too...

No I mean they closed it off because they are starting to put the pavement in. It's not there to drive on it yet.

This thread is very quiet lately! Any news in the Magnum world?

Personally I am looking to start my CDL training at Interstate Truck Driving School in the beginning of September. Very excited to get my new career underway.

Not much to be said. Wheels keep turning. Your in a good spot coming to Magnum out of school. Tony is as good as his word. Go ahead and keep looking around but the market doesn't look too bright in the next year. If anything we could see the big R. Refer is a good place to be.

This sounds like a pretty good company. So a question for you veterans here on this forum - Is this company only a starter company or also a 2nd year company, depending on where you're coming from?

Sounds like some of you guys have been here a while.

Let's say Someone like myself, when I get 1 years experience OTR running dry cans/reefer, what would the starting pay be? I saw on the reviews for this company that there's lots of North Carolina drivers, I'm assuming there must be a terminal close to the Charlotte area maybe?

Also are trucks automatics? You mentioned equipment you can be proud of, so it's all newer trucks with lower mileage I'm assuming? Nothing like 2013's with 500,000+ miles on them or anything like that?

    Single bunks or double bunks?

Is everyone getting consistent 2500+ mile weeks if they want it, do you think?

How often do you go as far up as North Dakota? Right now I'm driving around South Dakota, southern Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, but I've been to North Dakota in the winter time and North Dakota is a whole other animal compared to SD, WI, MN.

EDIT - do you guys chain or shut down when chains are required?
