Be careful crossing the street to the liquor store at that flying j..
For dealing with a reefer and flipping your sleep and parking at customers, I hope you make way more then me.
Last year I took off a LOT, for an OTR guy. And yes I will complain a lot, but I never loaded or unloaded on my 10, or spent the night at a customer, unless there is a great restraunt nearby.

Um... Tuck. If that was MY story, I'd be working somewhere else. But that's not MY story. I'm averaging pretty decent, sometimes outstanding.

I've talked with drivers here for 3 years that get F'd up miles EVERY week. They leave. Then I talk with another guy/gal who has been here three years and they're as happy as can be.

EVERY driver #####es. It's the ones who vote with their feet that you count.

When I get less that 2k miles a week consistent, I'll leave. Period. End. Of. Story.

But that's not MY story. I got ONE bad week and another that merely wasn't great.

Who am I gonna go to work for? that's significantly better? NAMES dude, I want NAMES. Or else you're jut whining.

By no means should anyone work where I do, you will regret every second of it.
I did somehow average a smidge over 2,000 miles a week with 66 days home and the 10 days it took to switch trucks.
If you haven't seen my dash cam storm video, I will recommend it. I also have the best trucking video channel on Earth.

But it seems I get a lot of short loads, a lot.
Plus, I'll post the actual numbers because almost every other driver I meet runs 3,000 plus miles EVERY week, coughbs wmt

Without going totally over to the dark side, when I worked for the self centered, anal retentive, egotistical, micromanaging bunch of sleep apnea testing ######## @tucker works for, I never worried about NOT being able to gross at least $50k. Even during the worst of the recession. If I were going to finish out the calander year here, I might just squeek over it. Piece of mind, bright shiney equipment and the subtle micromanagement here doesn't come close to paying the bills. I sit waiting more here than anywhere I have ever worked. Now don't get me wrong, they're nice people here, but nice don't pay the piper.I made far better money over there, but not enough to put up with all their b.s.

That B.S is worth a LOT ...to Me. Maybe not to other people.

I HATED having to report my morning starting point and evening stopping point, and being told to fuel at XYZ for 50 gals.

Seems like a small thing, but to ME, it was a major hassle. (Especially when you're being told to fuel 50 gals at a place that's going to take you an hour /1/2)

I wish I could put a number on what that lack of hassle is worth to me. Like pornography, "I know it when I see it." And I understand the lack of miles... OMG I understand.

As long as I keep making 2500 miles per week at the rate I'm getting paid, I'm more than happy. I'm getting WAY more than $50k per year here at 2200+. I'm making closer to 3k on average lately. I don't have a monthly nut to make, so I understand a consistent amount is important. I'm looking at an average annual amount, and i'm just not seeing how I could do better, with my whopping 15 months of experience.

No one is going to pay ME better. Walmart might well pay YOU better, Super. But they won't even HIRE me.

I would look at Walmart. They pay really well, if your willing to put up with the nonsense and have the experience.

Wally hasn't hired in my area for years, and I won't drive for a company that is using or planning driver facing cameras unless it pays $100k+. I just know that my wife's doctor visit next Monday can't get here soon enough.
