Used to ##### about not being able to run & make money. Now they ##### about getting work after spending all day playing with their phone. And they need energy drinks to run puny e-log miles LOL

Ran into one the other day in George West, Tx, driving his 35 year- owned and operated K 100 cabover, and see a few more here and there. It definately has changed out here. I would say in about 5 years it will not be worth it for me.

I remember the days when we would stand around the Doswell Truckstop down in Virginia and talk out in the lot. Everyone wearing either dress shoes or cowboy boots; jeans or blue jeans with cowboy hats or hair neatly cut and looking like cusual business dress with collared shirts. Drivers were friendly and would go out of their way to help someone. That is pretty much all gone today and so are the best days of trucking.

Yes there is a few. What you see when walking into a truck stop restroom is ridiculous at times! Most of the locations don't have a dress code, especially for door slammers. Plant that I cater to has a sign on the guard shack door... NO SHORTS... Better have work boots on too, or you will be rejected. Another place I deliver in Pennsylvania has a sign on the door... No flip flops... Sometimes I feel the warm bodies they throw in trucks, relate trucking to a vacation, and dress according to that mindset. Be safe out there.

See this as a blessing in disguise. Run as far from trucking as you can! Some people just aren't meant to be truckers. If you had held your mouth just right you would still be with your first trainer and driving off into the sunset.

Back in the mid '80s, J.B. Hunt put me with a 'trainer'(?) because I had no OTR experience in my 12+ years of driving Class 8 trucks. The guy hated women, was rude to everyone, visited every possible adult bookstore and always wanted to know if I was jerking myself off in the sleeper. 3 days later, he drops me off at the terminal, telling the assist. terminal manager that he 'was done with me'. Long story short: I left Hunt after approx. 5 weeks - my first attempt at OTR trucking was a complete bust LOL!!! Sadly, I believe trucking has more 'clown trainers' infesting its ranks now than it did back then.

Lol the trainer I had back in the mid 90’s for Schneider had a thing for those “risqué cafe” places...
