Yeah seems she mentioned that in a couple posts! I was scratching my head with the $400 a week! That’s worse then training pay?

A person can make $400 at a gas station. I wouldn’t even think about driving a truck for that. But then they say not where I live and then say they haven’t been home for months. Well if you can stay gone for months then you can move for a better job if need be. I really don’t know how these places find any help at all.
Lepton1 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
Get away from Prime. Get away just as quick as you can. You're in a no-win situation and it's not going to get better.

My company, Britton Transport, would be a good fit I think. I suggest leaving Prime Asap and call Britton Transport. They are based out of Grand Forks, ND but hire pretty much everywhere. They have van/reefer and flatbed. They are a smaller company, about 115 trucks last I heard. They treat me well. I am in flatbed division but average over $1000 per week (made $59k last year on my 2018 W-2). Best of all they do not have any sort of lease program, only company and Owner Operator (as in you have to come in with a truck you already own). I'll look up the number and add to this post. They are straight up honest as well. Give them a call and you could be in orientation soon and making money again. Best wishes!
Edited to add: phone number is 800-437-5306. Website is Brittontransport.comLepton1 Thanks this. -
Clearly you have been taken advantage of from the git go. First of all $400. a week as a company driver is dismal. Then they really pulled a fast one on you with that lease. Finally if I got yelled at for refusing a bad load after doing my best for the company I would quietly hang up that call and immediately fill out a mass application for the next trucking job that floats past.
The advice you got to take the truck to a terminal and walk away is the best. As long as you don't abandon the truck you can get hired elsewhere. Its even questionable whether the company can collect any further expenses from you. Just cuz they ask doesn't mean you gotta pay. A lot depends on where you live and your desire to maintain a high credit score.
Finally..talk to other drivers of any company you are considering. And ask TTR. ... You will always get nasty comments from the peanut gallery here but mostly the guys are supportive and helpful.
You can get past this!Lepton1, RedForeman, Yelsew and 5 others Thank this. -
It's going to suck to hear this but, there are no good mega starter companies. It's best to just pick one, put up with the crap, don't sign a lease and try to stick it out until you get your experience. I would have struggled with the $400wk instead of ever considering signing a lease. Or I would've stayed a company driver until I found a better paying company.Lepton1 Thanks this.

It doesn’t matter that it was Prime. ANY company that pays a driver $400 a week should be red flagged for any job. Company or lease.
I was bringing home $6-700 a week in the 80’s as a company driver. It seems the whole #### world is in reverse now.Lepton1, Tombstone69, UturnGirl and 1 other person Thank this. -
My eyes are burning from reading the very first post...
