I have six months experience with Total Transportation and really can't complain much about the company at all, they have been great to me and give me plenty of miles. Things are changing big time over there though and I'm not sure that its for the better. I just need to be home more, my wife is wanting me home more than just every few weeks. My question is what good companies are out there with good hometime for someone with six months experience? Any help would be appreciated!
Need more hometime

Averitt gets you a garauntee, home every weekend, Unless you specifically request to be out for two weeks. I know several drivers who run with Averitt, and everyone says the same thing.

One thing though, their website says 1 yr OTR exp.. Id still apply, a few of the guys I know over there, didnt have that when they applied and still got hired!

I love seeing the trailers that advertise "Drivers home on weekends" and the like - looking miserable slugging down the road on the . . . . weekends.
"semi" retired, OPUS 7, allniter and 3 others Thank this. -
Tmc says they will get u home 48 of the 52 weekends
OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
Have you looked into tanker? Most will want a year but they are all hurting right now so start calling them. Martin has a terminal there and the energy companies around E Tx and NW La have drivers wanted signs out everywhere.

Try some walk ins to the Ltls in your area. Different carriers
have different accounts. You may luck up by hitting on some
mega carriers as well. I see Werner, swift,jb hunt all running
local in Ga.You never know til you ask around.Good luckblairandgretchen Thanks this. -
LTL or tanker, many times these van companies consider a 34 hour restart at home "weekly" hometime. You can make better money working five days a week if you know where to look. 4 nights in the truck or 7 nights at home. I would defiantly disregard the "1 year experience" requirement and start applying anyways.
