i lease thru blair which p&s owns and i do pretty good and im home every wknd unless i choose to stay out the lease is very acheivable and not to hard the thing ive learned is to manage ur money make good decision on wat load you pick try to work everything to your advantage
alot of guys go from company to l/o and still have a company driver mindset like always fill truck up with fuel thats biggest expense so why buy more than you need more fuel = less bring home no your not a true o/o but still gta think like one

 

I think this post has a great value.

When you are married to someone you two become as one person. As such you two (Those of you who have not had the pleasure...) need to get together and make a decision together to allow a cost or expense or decide to go do something equally in life.

I have a sneaking feeling that the younger generation to a percentage might have some trouble with real world situations requiring teamwork between Husband and Wife.

She is my ex now, however we talk over things that might cause a problem in life before it really becomes a problem for one of us.

To the subject of leasing on, I think part of the issue is greed. There they are with barely 10.00 in the pocket being offered .34 a mile after training. And some point during that week someone comes along like a Lord Savior offering lucrative (For the company) lease packages and collect a certain number of those who really are not in a position to be playing that adult of trucking behavior. They would be better off just being company drivers.

If they really wanted to become owner operators, all they have to do is save the money, plus operating capital for a year plus the insurance plus this, that and other for a few years or many years until they can step out and do it with their own authority. That would be a achievement with the right freight to thrive on becomes a employer of many people and many trucks in your own trucking company.

However trucking is the hardest way to make a dollar after spending 10.00 to make it.

 

P&S is also beginning to fine drivers for not having dunnage,Having tarps with holes or damaged straps.Its done a 360 nosedive in 3 years.And freight is dead ...why?Dot rating is at 82.Nuff said.

 

I got a friend who may debate that. He's been running steady since he's been there. Many loads are pre loaded

 

If he's in Alabama or is a new hire he's gonna do well.

 

Meh, all I know is flatbed ain’t for me, no matter the company.

I drive by this plant every afternoon on my way home from where I park my truck (I park 5 minutes from my house) and I almost always see at least one Melton driver out there tarping his trailer (they do drop and hooks at this place), rain, sleet, snow or sunny.

I almost feel sorry for the poor bastiges. I said “almost”. Lol

 

Every few months I used to pick up at steel plants/foundries across the Midwest.

I loved the days with driving wind and rain or snow. Or days when it was about 100 degrees or -10F.

I would leave the driver's room after signing my bills and say "well, time to go tarp my trailer."

Then I shut the doors and drove off.

 

In fact P&S is now in my rear view mirror.Done with the lies.

 

Yes they had me come to orientation and I didn't like what was said I left while in orientation they act as if I worked for them. Not I left day one just like any other company cover there ### and feed you to the wolves good thing I kept my other job
