The PA turnpike is easily avoided by running 80. Only under very specific and rare scenarios did I ever run 76 to make a tight next AM delivery appointment in Jersey as it does shave about 100 miles iirc.

Well, thanks to Eddie Spendell, our thankfully now former governor, who rammed Act 44 up the Turnpike's hindside, most of the Turnpike budget went to the PA state general fund. AKA the Big Black Hole of Harrisburg. From there it went to Eddie Spendell's hometown buddies in Filthydelphia. Here is the link to the Turnpike website's take on all this.

Kinda hard when you live here.. and I'm sure you don't want half of the Northeast moving wherever you call home. Hell we don't want half of them, we're just stuck with them. We feel so guilty about their stupidity we don't wish them on our worst enemies. We wouldn't give some of these idiots to even the French!

If all the tax payers start to flee it turns into a death spiral where they raise the taxes again to make up the shortfall of the tax base that left, causing more to flee and so on. Same thing is happening in other states. IL, NJ and CA are the ones that immediately come to mind. It’s a pernicious little cycle that ends badly.

Have no fear, those states just invent ways to tax & fee even more money out of the residents and any commerce that crosses behind enemy lines.

And to think we still have to pay the IFTA tax on top of the toll. They are currently #2 on most expensive IFTA tax; 0.74.

    IFTA, Inc.

If your going to eastern PA or central/south Jersey- Run 80 over to the Northeast extension It cant be that much can it?

Northeast extension was like $9 bucks from 80 down to 276..Probably 25-30 now

    D.Tibbitt and PE_T Thank this.
