Oh I understand. We've all had issues especially if you've been with a company that long it's bound to happen. It's like any relationship there's rocky times I can definitely say I'm happy I never left. Do what makes you feel best. But don't let your pride get in the way. You sound like a good worker!
And I'm out of 9 plant city. Busy busy.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Not to bad runs good. I’m not sad I left per-say actually I’m happy I got to work a short stint at ABF I learned a great deal at ABF and got some great experience that I would not have gotten at Gordon’s and really got to see how the other half lives.

Headed to Penske Logistics now but Gordon’s and I maybe together again.

Aright guys, so it's set May 10th I start at Penske Logistics. I did apply for my old job back at GFS will see what they say they alerted me if it wasn't for that I would have never considered them again, but they kind of sought me out.

Anyhow I put in my 2 weeks at ABF yesterday it just wasn't working out. The terminal manager called me today and we talked for a minute and he said "I understand, this isn't for everyone." It just wasn't working out, I mean don't get me wrong I was doing the job and did everything they asked and all that, but life wise it wasn't working for my family. The terminal manager said "I hate to see you go, but I understand." I thought that was nice. They are good folks at ABF no hard feelings, just wasn't the job for me.

Well late today I was able to reach an agreement with GFS management and I’m actually going back there and that’s that for that. It’s been a long 40 days. Happy to be going back we’re all happy to see each other and it’ll be good.

By the way ABF thank you for having me. It wasn’t the right job for me, but there is nothing wrong with the place and I learned a great deal there and got some great experience.

Orlando itself isn't a problem running through at night on linehaul, but the terminal out there is garbage. The main impediment heading through and around there aside from the issues at the yard is all of the construction everywhere, but it's manageable. I'm heading back into the city next bid though. The ease of work on linehaul is nice, but the schedule doesn't work for my family.

Well, it's been an interesting ride working at R&L Carriers. But I had a weird bizarre shift I want to mention.

I won't disparage them too much because they gave me a job.

However, this is a company that crosses their T and dots their I. I was called in all week over paperwork stuff. I didn't date this DR and the customer signed but didn't print their name on page 2/3 on this DR. Blah blah blah. And it went on and on. It's petty stuff .

Please believe me when I say this. I am a bad arse P&D driver. I will literally break down a 2k pallet of water and hand muck it into your warehouse if I have to, but this level of micromanaging has me stumped.

So here is where it gets weird. I had this stop today and I had a guy loading me and his coworker sat on his forklift engaging me and he was like "is this your first or second week with R&L?"

    - 8th shift. How did you know?

"You been doing this for a minute and you are ready to quit"

    - been doing LTL for over a decade. How the hell do you know this?

"I see just see it in your eyes. This Friday will be your last day."

    - are you some kind of guru or mind-reader?!? How do you know how unhappy I am?

"Keep your head up until Friday and tell your boss that this is not the right job for you".

Then on my way home I was in heavy thought about what happened on my second to last stop. I tried to rationalize this as much as I could and then my phone went off.

My old TM familiar voice went off and said "Hey R/R, we got more freight than we can handle and I need 5 drivers. Come back and I will keep your seniority and all your vacation and benefits. Interested?"

In disbelief I mumbled "I'll be back Monday"

Are you and I living parallel lives? Your situation at R&L and mine with GFS are pretty much the same deal. It’s like the exact same thing. Quit didn’t like the new place and the old place calls and wants you to come back. I start back up at my old job at GFS Sunday night.
