Think I can officially call myself a senior driver.

I have every OTC pain killer, first aid kit, splinter remover, tums, and a lumbar pillow now in my truck.

Looking back at life. I probably would have been better off professionally being married to a chiropractor.

Free DoT physicals and spine adjustments.

CF was my first commercial driving job in 1987 at 21 years old on my days off from my full time Fire Dept career. I left CF in the late 90’s before they closed, but I worked with several of the CF drivers again at UPS. CF was a great place to work at the terminal I worked and still occasionally see some of the guys I worked with. Trucking has definitely changed since 1987, but fortunately I still like it most of the time.

I kept a pillow in my truck 20 years ago when I was running nights. I needed it having to wait 2-3 hours every night for the ignoramus coming from the other end.

Anyone know what OD is paying in Florida? They’re expanding in my area - see they’re hiring. OD doesn’t follow me around in my route like Estes/sefl does.

What's the mileage on your tractor? I've been with the company about ten years and have one of the better tractors- it has over 800,000 miles. Our company claims they still have problems getting new tractors because of supply issues. We finally replaced 2 that had over a million miles on them. Of course our shop just does enough to get them on the road when they breakdown. Over 500 miles a night with no cruise control gets old fast.
Just chime in over the next few days with miles on your ride. Any comments appreciated.
The high miles seems a bit crazy. Or is this the new normal?

P&D but none of our trucks have over 600k. We just got 4 new trucks in the past couple months. I’m at FXF. Small barn with 9 city and 7 linehaul drivers. No cruise would suck on a 500 mile run.

Right now I'm in a slipseat truck with 90k miles on it. My last non-slipseat truck was a 2018 with 650k miles.

Did a linehaul run from WF out to Belfield, ND and back today.

wasn’t bad at all, except the slick roads between Steele and Bismarck then the wind being all kinds of cranky all the way back from Belfield.

My meet driver is a good kid, he’s got a bright future if he can keep his head on straight.

All in all a good days work.
