I have a rant, and this one revolves around recruitment or headhunter bonuses.

So when USF Holland went under, I was unemployed for a few weeks. I finally get a text from my old coworker who found himself a new home and suggested they have room for one more driver.

After I applied and was about to be interviewed, he made a mention that he was participating in a employee referral program and it would help him out if I could mention him. Dude.... They are about to cut off my water and I haven't eaten in a week because I can't find work. OF COURSE I AM GOING TO MENTION YOU.

90 days come and go and I was curious if they actually forked over the bonus and how it would work if I quit before my first year was up. Like, are they going to recoup part of it or whatever.

"Nah man. I got $500 for bringing you in .....buuuuuuut, they are paying me out weekly. So $500 divided by 52 weeks is about $10 extra per paycheck."

Wow. So no hard feelings if I found something else and left early I guess.

Ours was 5k but instead of putting it on a seperste check they just paid it out on a regular paycheck. So I probably got 1/3 of it and uncle sam got the rest.

That would make the most sense to pay it out in one, two or even four installments. Get a nice pay boost for a down payment on a boat or margarita slush fund for your next vacation. And of course Uncle Sugar gets his large cut, no legal way to get around him without a door knock from the IRS. In my coworker's case, I think weekly installments is not much of an incentive to recruit more people since your bonus is so diluted.

$5k is a generous headhunter bonus. Most places I know of don't go past $1,000 per driver.

Looking through random job listings the other day and I came across a $20k bonus for Bimbo Bakeries. No mention of how it pays out though.

$30 an hour and home every day sounds pretty ok to me.

Why is it linehaul drivers from Texas can't do a ####ing pre-trip or stop at a truck stop for a mudflap or light issue and get it fixed and just bring me crap ### trailers and expect me to take them???

    I hate lazy people.

Meet driver brought me trailers with no mudflaps on the back trailer. Luckily scale was closed and got it taken care of at the truck stop. Next time he can just go through.

    Do. Your. ####. Job.
