I cracked my liftgate delivering cabinet pallets like that almost daily when I was at cooper.

it was so bad the liftgate didn’t go up or down straight

I know most of yall don’t carry too much xtra equipment….but that’s why my meat hooks…chains&straps never leave my truck
But what im lil confused about is….all the effort&coordination, to get it just right to lower forklift and tailgate….just get it most of way out….brace the end just in front of forklift….then move forklift to the side and turn and drive it out
    What am I missing??

That's how we used to do those long roll-up garage doors. Bring it out almost to the very end, then lower the forklift side end down onto a pallet to brace it. Carefully pull the forks out. So now you have the trailer holding up one end and a pallet holding up the other.

Now grab the pallet from the side and hopefully everything balances right on the forklift tines.

You can also synchronize lowering the freight with a forklift and lift gate. I swear with P&D, half your job is problem solving.

It was already on the end of my trailer thankfully. If it wasn’t we probably would’ve figured a way to use either a strap and chain or just chains. There wasn’t a real good place to hook onto with a chain.

It most likely would’ve bent the frame if my guys wouldn’t have put it directly on the end for me.

The gate was definitely creaking and groaning under the pressure that was on it. I made sure to test it a few times before I left there.

    It actually isn’t that bad.

I typically tell the forklift guy to go down first. Then I hit the switch. The people I deliver to are pretty good at controlling the drop. Once the liftgate hits the ground, he can then just drag the skid back about 8’ or so to get it clear.

    Man, these truck drivers…

I had an owner OP come up to me today, and I told him him “hey, management is expect you. Hit door 74 please”.

He goes “this is just a drop”, I’m like yeha drop it in 74. Dude wanting to argue with me on how he doesn’t get paid to dock the trailer.

I was like “ Well, ####. I guess no one’s going to sign that BOL”.

it’s not like it was even a difficult door to hit. I offer to hit the crap doors for people with the hostler.
