What a week! First 3 days chaining to make it across 13-14hr days. My fourth run I’m getting snowed on no chaining but almost back and truck d rates no power for the hills. Waiting on a wrecker.... hopefully tonight my bid gets cancelled since it’s gonna be a 2-3 hr wait then a 2-3 hr tow into town. Well, I’m paid by the hour now. Should make up my some of pay with this wait time for my last run. Start my weekend early hopefully. Been running on little sleep since I’ve been turning and burning cause of weather. Gonna sleep like a mofo when I get home.

It’s alright if you can run far enough away to not get drafted for crap near the yard.

Today might be the first time in two weeks I haven’t worked 11 1/2 or better. We’re shorthanded.

Check your pay stub Mike. You should be getting OT after 40 based on 24 something an hour, we all do, Transit and volume is actually base, plus trip, plus OT after 40. Additional Services is hourly for stuff like hand washing your tractor in the manual bay and any work performed outside the your normal job. I am doing a zone on Sunday(volume run), easy job. Run out to Perrysburg, swap trailers with a Grand Rapids driver, come back, drop trailer in a volume dock, go home. Wage for the day, 236.18. Total hours, 8.25, but the trip pays 236.18, 9.5 hours.

My buddy covered your volume driver's run today. Macedonia and 117th street.

24.00 is hourly rate that OT is based on plus additional services rate. Pay is actually component pay. Base pay(for showing up), stop pay, piece pay, mileage pay.

    Fuelinmyveins and Mike2633 Thank this.

We've got (2) 50ft at our yard. The one though that does the marketplaces is a special arrangement (political) that is set to expire when he retires, which would be the guy you're buddy covered. He's actually under the warehouses control, but he parks the truck in Cleveland. Then he drives to the warehouse everyday. Warehouse management has actually tried to cancel that arrangement, but it has kind of a set expiration date, and there's other internal reasons that have to do with stuff that have made warehouse management unable to get that run out of Cleveland but they want that trailer back out of the warehouse when that guy retires that run will be back at the warehouse and will be down to (1) 50ft at our yard. Of course right now we have (3) 50ft in our yard. Construction blocked delivery of South Euclid so they dumped that trailer in our yard and one of our people had to deliver it and now the trailer is sitting there, of course it doesn't matter back in the day when 50' were scarce transit was always hunting for those things to bring back to the warehouse they were always in hot demand, now that we've run out of room to park them it's probably a different story LOL!

Our guy is the younger guy (31-32) you may have seen him, his hair sometimes is blown out he's usually showing up after everyone is left and gone. He's actually our yards official volume driver he does all the dock stops. Once in a while they temp a market place on to him, but he handles the hospitals and the big nursing home accounts and some of the food places. He usually goes out with (2) maybe (3) stops if it's heavy. Monday I had his route I had (3) stops! Didn't have a back haul though. He's the guy who runs and gets the back hauls.

I thought there was a base pay for transit and volume, because some trips pay better then others if you look at the sheet.

Short version, when you have 25+ years with the company and was once management, you can do whatever you want, LOL

Anyone else here in SC? They are forcasting a "major storm". This morning I asked my boss for a set of chains in case I get caught up in it next week when it hits . We don't have any major mountain passes or anything down here, but a set of single rails will come in handy when dealing with parking lots. My boss gave me an adamant "no". If the snow sticks, they are shutting down the affected areas.

Sure enough, I got close to Greenville SC. And here comes SCDoT with a friggin tanker truck spraying de-icer (I am guessing) on the interstate. Had a three car escort and everything. Then in town the same scene. Snowplow trucks everywhere spraying stuff. It is 54° outside and they are running plow trucks. They are only calling for 1-3 inches for that area.

    It's an absolutely bizzare sight.
