Sometimes it's the shipper that does that. It's not always the driver. The Tyson in Center does it a lot because they have a few docks that are at a weird angle and require the legs to be higher in order to get underneath the trailer.

Good job on noticing it. Some drivers wouldn't have til the reefer crushes the back of the truck.

For me, if I don't 1) hear the fifth wheel go under the trailer and 2) feel and see the suspension go down I am getting out and checking the pin height. Sometimes it's just high enough and others it's 3ft above the fifth wheel.

This has happened multiple times to me and I guarantee you most of the time it's the yard guys doing it. It's not our fellow drivers doing it. There can be tons of reasons for this happening. I won't even begin to go into them. It's always annoying, though, especially in winter in the freezing cold with a fully loaded trailer. It's worse when the stupid handle won't go into the proper gear and you're fighting with it.

I rather the nose of the trailer too high vs too low. At least with too high you have gravity working with you instead of against you.

Just have the yard jockey get under it and give it a few cranks when they have it lifted. Never had one refuse to do it.

I will. The main reason is guys don't know how to drop a trailer! This mainly comes about when the trailer is dropped on uneven ground and the legs get lowered into a hole or depression. The trailer is subsequently moved to level ground and BAM! it's now 4" to high.

You dragging the screen down to refresh? I don't know what the auto refresh rate is, but sometimes doing it manually will update it.

I had to use a hammer to bang open the fuel tank on this trailer I picked up. It doesn't have to be screwed all the way down the neck. When I returned it it didn't even go back to the same place where it was when I loosened it.

You don't have to prove that you're superhuman by winding the trailer super high. And you don't have to prove that you're superhuman by wrenching the cap down so tight that it takes tools to freaking open it.
