Forget the raise in our base rate, I'd be stoked if we reliably got detention pay and/or reimbursement for time spent hauling broken trailers around fixing problems that have been passed down more than STD's in a trailer park.
Steel Tiger, MachoCyclone, CannonballAA and 2 others Thank this. -
Driver next to me leaving about 0215 this AM , he had a straight ahead gimme pullout but decided to turn left too soon and push my passenger mirror forward breaking off the little spot mirror. Then he ran for it. Mechanics saw the whole thing, cut him off at the truckstop exit and turned him around to my truck. Guy drove right by without stopping while I was yelling at the driver who just backed in next to me who was defending himself as innocent. Anyway, police report filed for hit and run, witnesses and got ahold of the insurance dept which is tracking down the driver. The company claims they didn't have any drivers within 150 miles of the place I got hit. That says the guy was on paper logs and on paper he was not where he really was.
The whole worst part of this for him now, he loses his CDL for 90 days for hit and run, I replaced the mirror for $35 bucks and an $8 dollar star key wrench I have but it is at home. If the driver had stopped maybe we could have worked this out without the police, without the insurance.Knucklehead, MachoCyclone, Steel Tiger and 2 others Thank this. -

I just get past the Loves in Erick, OK (I-40 ext 7) when I get a call on the cb that I have a drive tire going flat. I pull into the rest area just east of the Loves and sure enough, I have a flat drive tire. Didn't damage the rim thankfully and hopefully it's repairable. Now waiting on road service to come out.
Normally, I would have aired it up and gone to the shop myself, but my cheap air hose busted about a week ago and was just thinking while driving that I need to replace that.crxdc Thanks this. -
Haha, I told breakdown exactly where I was at. I get a phone call from the TA in Sayre telling me to pull into the bay. I tell her that I'm at a rest area. She goes oh. We were told you were here. I said if I was there I would have personally checked in. But i can't get there because I have a flat drive tire and I have super singles. So, they got that worked out and changed over to road call.
crxdc Thanks this. -
Thank the truck gods, it was repairable. It was a nail. Only $305 instead of a new tire.
