How do I use the maintenance account? Do I have to get authorization from JCT first or do I just go?

There's a macro to request repair pay, that's the final step after you get the work done and they fax everything to JCT. That macro gets you the EFS.

My process, which may be "wrong" but whatever...I call breakdown and let them know where I'm going to get a PM done, give them the mileage and APU hours, then go check in, get the work done, they fax the invoice back over to JCT, then you send in the repair macro ( I think its 31?) for the EFS.

Treputt, crxdc and feferic11 Thank this.

    1. Call breakdown, tell them which shop you are at and what you want done. Have milage and apu hours.
    2. Check into shop for write up.
    3. Have shop call breakdown after write up.
    4. Once done, depending on the shop, repairs are paid for via P.O.#, Pinnacle (?) system or through efs check.
Step 3 is where the shop is informed of the payment method. If it's an efs then you send in a Mac 31 with the total and the repair order number to get the check.

You can do repairs pretty much any place you want.

The money will come out of your maintenance account. Don't worry if you don't have enough to cover the bill. The account will go negative and get paid back as you pay into the maintenance. There is no fee or charge for going negative.

That's a tiny bit misleading. As a person who was NEVER positive in their maintenance account for most of their time at JCT, they will take an extra amount out of your paycheck to make up the difference.....0.05 cents to be exact.

Still, you'll always get a paycheck based on this type of maintenance situation. The truck that I first "chose" was a 'lemon' and when the tax professionals got back with me on the totals of maintenance costs for my first year, I was floored. It was in the six digits...but..I was ALWAYS cash flow positive.

In retrospect, I imagine myself writing checks for every single break down and tow..and wonder how frustrated I would have been. It's subtle psychological bait and switch from your own mind.

On my new truck, I just chose to pay for my new steers, 1200 bucks, and didn't even try to get it from maintenance. I was becoming addicted to a positive maintenance account.

Here is hoping that my maintenance account stays positive....but my accountant told me that a positive maintenance account is like a checking account....you get taxed on the income. When I was maintenance negative it was a deduction. WTF. You can't win for losing...or can you? Writing checks is inevitable when you start to dance with being a business operator...which is what a JCT lease actually is....a ballroom flirt as an O/O:)>>>>>>

You can also just go to any Freightliner and they will take care off all the billing with JCT. Remember, the 50,000 miles service includes the overhead so together with the oil change is just right under $1000 bucks at Freightliner.
