This mornings drive along 40 was interesting. Left Flagstaff heading west. Got to some construction in Lake Havasu City with a speed limit of 45mph. The two drivers behind me were cussing me out for doing 45 in a 45 zone. All I could think is, "Wow, not only one, but two others with cb's that are actually on."
Got into California and got to the first climb, the slowest of the climbs along 40. Me and two others got pulled over by CHP. Now don't freak; I wasn't in the wrong. I was just cruising up the hill at a solid 30mph with my 4-ways on in the truck lane. Another truck doing 30.5 decided to pass in the center lane. The truck behind him decided to pass in the left lane doing 31. Two CHP cars coming up fast didn't appreciate that too much. So, we all got pulled over. They just wanted my statement and let me go since I didn't do anything wrong. The other two tried to blame me as to why they were in the wrong lanes and said I should have slowed down to let them pass. The officers got a good laugh and proceeded with road side inspections on both along with the impeding traffic tickets.
Got into more construction where it's 50mph and 45mph in one place. Got cussed out again for doing the posted speed.
Stopped here in Barstow and was talking to another driver (not one of us). We talked for a few and he asked why I stopped here because I could park on the street at the customer. I responded with what makes you think I want to park on the street 17hours before my appt with no access to restrooms. He came back with that I could park at the TA or Petro in Ontario. I rejected that with why would I pay at least $20 for parking and I'm not buying 50 gallons of unneeded fuel just to park. And, besides, stopping now balances out my recaps.
So, yeah, interesting morning.Last edited: Sep 21, 2016

Yeah those climbs are why I take the Goff's bypass. Unless its raining then screw that. I bet it's a nightmare.
And yeah I'm part of the "cursed at for obeying the law" crowd. I feel bad sometimes like that 20 mile or something construction zone in Illinois... But I like my money more than I like them. And I like it staying in my pockets lol.MachoCyclone Thanks this. -
I'm usually on I88 and thankfully it's only 12 to 14 miles but I'm the same way, I like my money being mine and not giving it away to some state that can't build roads in the first place.
MachoCyclone Thanks this. -
@Kamkor That's why I didn't take that route. They've been getting the rain from the remains of a tropical storm and didn't want to risk it.

I had a jct truck ride my but thru that construction a few weeks ago. Shame people are always in such a hurry.
MachoCyclone Thanks this. -
I request permission to quote your above post and reference you when other forum members berate me for not slowing down for the passers. Case in point was my JCT video thread where most of the posters came down like a hammer on me for not slowing down to JCT when it was clear as day JCT was in the wrong lane speeding.. Anyway, just makes my day to learn the CHP feels the same as I do as you do as responsible truckers do.
