Be careful what kind of laundry detergent you use. There are less harsh detergents than Tide and Cheer that will not cause a caustic irritation, which invites all kinds of other problems, including the fungus responsible for "jungle rot." I would suggest something hypoallergenic like Arm n Hammer liquid or something similar.
You don't have to use a medicated powder to prevent chafing and moisture accumulation. You can use a simple talcum based powder, again, without added fragrances or dyes.
Try to avoid using skivvies that keep your stuff bound up. Similarly, try to avoid pants that bind you. Air flow really is a great thing.
Lastly, I will reiterate....keep as clean as you can. Sometimes that means using a "shower in a box" (baby wipes) but make sure you carry paper towels and water so you can rinse yourself and dry off well after using them. There are fragrances and chemicals in baby wipes that can cause problems of you are sensitive to them.
No, I'm not a guy. But I do understand the male anatomy fairly well, considering I have three years of Anatomy and Physiology in my education. So keep your sexist commentary to yourself.
***Seriously*** What do you guys do to prevent Jungle Rot or other rashes from sittin

Most of you don't know this but athletes foot and jock itch are almost the same fungus! Foot powder in the shorts does help and believe it or not a good shampoo on ALL of you hairy areas helps also especially between the legs if you start to "get an itch," shampoo down there as if it was your head with that shampoo!
And as said if you think tight is cool just wait! Trucking ain't a fashion show! Loosen up and let air circulate and don't sleep in your jeans! If you do get a lot of rashes then the beaded seat cushions are great! BUT if you are of the "hairy" type, then wear long pants! Those beads do grab hair and if you think You Tube videos of dumb men trying out a wax job is funny which they really are, then wait till you sit on a beaded seat cushion in your skivies! You'll lose many hairs in a few seconds before you can unarse that seat! And no, it's highly overrated as fun! I know, got the Tshirt and cap! And it IS highly overrated! Pulling hair by the dozens , one at a time in milliseconds out of the back of your legs and parts of the posterior HURTS!Injun and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -

Wool socks, 365 days a year. Wool pant or shorts, if you can afford them. Some of the Asian military use wool pants that you can find at Military Surplus Stores for around $25 bucks, but unless your under 5'8" and weigh less then 145lbs you'll have a hard time finding a pair that fit you. I lay down a towel if I'm driving a truck with vinyl seats. Also one of the most important thing you can do that is often overlooked, is eating a good diet and watching your caffine intake. A good diet keeps your skin healthy and more resistant to either drying out or being too oily. Good luck.

All good suggestions so far...I have most of the things previously mentioned on the truck, and they work.
As for ailments, the thing that bothers me the most is the odd way I have to move my arm to work the gear shift makes my tennis elbow act up. I wear my brace and take anti inflammatories as necessary. To prevent DVT and stiff leg joints, I stop every couple or 3 hours at a rest area, use the facilities, take a short walk around and do a tire check while I'm at it. -
Well I shave all my body hair, believe it or not it helps. Especialy the scrotal areas where hair tend sto build up.
Also there is a DAM good soap called hibeclense that is very progressive on killing all germs. I've noticed after I use it that I often have NO or little smell the next day, which a touch up with baby wipes will often do the trick.
There is one bad side to shaving for people who pass gas, if your shaved that dam fart will roll around between your crack and legs like a wild hamster trying to get out of his cage, however it really does help with hygine. Army guys often shave the pits and such for that reason. -
Oh man....A driver might also keep a pair of what I like to call "shower shoes" with them when they shower. Noting like keeping you feet out of the multi-humanic soup contained in truck stop showers.
Lysol is your friend.
When I grow up, I am going to be a dentist and set up shop in a truck stop! Talk about job security! But reasonable prices. So many of us poor old truckers let our teeth go. -
Can you break a 5 ? It's all I got.
never say never -

To the original poster, yes that might be a good idea for you. However shaving seems to beget more and more hair growth (I heard...) so I recommend going down to the salon and getting a full on wax job or perhaps a few laser treatments to kill the hair follicles. It's pretty easy, you just get on your knees on the table lean way forward then reach back and spread 'em for the technician who does all the work back there for you ( I heard...)
