To keep truck idling more than 5 minutes, turn cruise control on. It’ll raise your rpm’s and keep truck running.

That doesn’t work on every truck. It certainly doesn’t work on mine.

    Detroits maybe....

You have a Cummins, now? We could always increase the idle speed in the Cummins equipped FLs.

Emission packages (like Cali clean idle) sometimes limit idle speed, though.

Volvo idling is controlled automatically, from what I've been told, I didn't run the one I drove enough to even figure out how to tilt the steering wheel, just enough to not feel comfortable with it.

No, I’m still in my Mack Vision.

They’re buying Petes with the X15’s now though.

Best thing to do is ask a dealer shop mechanic, the old school guys will tell you exactly how to do it.

I've got Expat bunk heater in my truck. Keeps me warm -15F nights, just have to use proper mixture if anti gel.

Those are nice but if it gets below 10 outside i need to drape my bed sheet down far enough to get the full blast of heat under the sheets.

Our company trucks have always had Espar bunk heaters, it can be minus 15 outside and it heats my truck up good. They do have to be serviced now and than seems it's every 2nd or 3rd year, basically you get an error code on the digital thermostat, like a no flame detected code, most of the time it's the screen and pin that they replace. They have their own computer, tech at dealer shop just plugs into it to pull codes etc. Mine was just serviced, works great again. I turn it on once a week throughout the year let in run for 30 minutes, as Espar recommends running it now and than throughout year.

Yeah, but if your tank is low, the tube won’t pick up fuel for the espar heater. Also the espar will stop when the batteries get low.

Basically if the truck is having issues, the espar will only work so long.

3 wool blankets ($10) each at walmart tend to keep you warm at any temp..

Keep in mind, if you only have 1 blanket, folding in half makes it as warm as 2. Wool keeps warm even when wet.

Cabelas has tents that fold so small they can go under your bed when not in use.

Site pinterest has pins on survival and camping and how to use things to stay alive.

You may break down in sub zero temps in a place where you have no cell or satellite, or even if you do, taxi or p.d. Won’t be able to get to you.

Don’t assume a tow truck will come get you when it gets into a blizzard condition. You may have to abandon your truck and make a shelter so you can start a fire.

You may have to strip the wooden walls of your trailer to make a shelter or even the interior of your cab.

You don’t wanna start fire next to your doors and fuel tank, but you can start a fire alongside your trailer.

The trailer will serve as your roof, plywood walls of trailer can serve as walls, under the trailer, plastic walls of sleeper as floor under the trailer, start a fire beside the trailer and you’ve turned the trailer into a cabin.
