First of all, I want you to explain to me how to stack cash when you get an average paycheck like this (this is this weeks net pay that was deposited in my wife's account to pay bills), and I see at least 2 like this a month. Screenshot_20250704-132145.png

2nd, on the Tyson stuff, I send in an accurate PTA when I do my load call, and reply to them the first time politely. After that, they have been told (by more than just me) that if the PTA or OTD changes, they will be promptly informed. Even @drvrtech77 has given them static about it (more than me) and I don't see the multitude of Op's people messing with his miles because of it. 3rd, the reason I left Shaffer the last time wasn't because of stuff like this, or miles issues. It had to do with the constant issues with trucks, and having to keep swapping all my stuff (5 in the 1st 3 months, and 3 more over the next year, the last one had the same issue twice in 2 weeks). As far as being labeled an Angry driver, I am far from it. Deland told the Princess I was a nice guy, and generally when I speak to people over the phone, I have a very positive, almost humorous conversation. The only time I get negative is if someone is ####ing up and costing me miles and money, repeatedly. As far as the "special drivers" comment and pay structure, I get our pay structure, it's simple - a set per mile rate. As far as length of haul, when I quote my daily average for a month, that's s the monthly total miles divided by the days of that month I was available. The only time I make any extra added to that, it's on really short runs. My complaint is when I am constantly getting loads that calculate out to 300-350 miles a day, another words too much time for the miles. Like a 600 mile load with 3 days, or a 2000 mile load with 6 days...and neither can deliver early and no place to t-call.

I personally think that if I crapped you a solid gold turd, cleaned it, disinfected it, and brought it to you on a silk lined silver platter, you would find something I did to ##### about, so how about you just find some other playground to play on and forget I exist...unless screwing with me gets you off in some perverted way, if that's the case...then seek help, that ain't healthy.

That was a reply to a different member...one that gets his jollies hating on my posts.

I could have swore they said it was $.02, in orientation. That makes things a little better. (Honestly, I would still prefer to turn more miles at my pay rate)

I dont think snackbar is one of those guys.. to me it seems like he just wants to he left alone to run good miles and thats it... What a concept... His complaints are all valid imo..and reading all the trials and tribulations , it reminds me of why i wont ever work for a mega carrier.. id rather go clean toilets at loves everyday

You hit the nail on the head. My early days at Moore, I was content... here's your load, go deliver....then crickets until you were told to either bring the empty back to the plant or head to another plant to live load. With SPD, very much the same. The early days there were great until Daseke started making changes, then sold out to W-TFI.

The only advantage to working for a large company is the insurance coverage. It's a little more per week than I like, but some of the costs, especially the savings on my wife's high dollar prescriptions offset a lot of that increase.

I’m definitely picking up a bit of the “if you don’t like the short runs then you don’t like to work” mentality in here.

I am a little leary after my next load. After I deliver this current load in Aurora, they have me picking up water 4 miles away going to N. Platte for tomorrow as well. The part that I am leary about is if they're gonna try to rope me into pulling Walmart duty. I have never had a good experience being an OTR working out of any of our dedicated Walmart accounts. I hope I am just being paranoid and they don't need my help.

It's not that. As an OTR driver, constant short runs burn the logbook up quicker. During the good times at SPD, I did a lot of coast to coast runs and could log over 4000 miles in one 7 day period. If you get 7 550-575 mile runs, it's tough to fit that into a 7 day pay period unless it's all drop/hook with 1 or 2 load to load swaps.

Like tomorrow, I unload 19 miles from where I am currently, live unload, the my reload is 4 miles away, live load. Then it's 270 miles to the delivery. By the time I spend all that time live loading and unloading, there won't be much left on my 14 to do something else.

Maybe not, but I’m sure that’s what your critics are trying to allude to here.

It almost seems like percentage pay would be better if your next load is always right around the corner.

no you do not have to worry about Walmart dedicated delivering to North Platte. I’ve delivered there numerous times and they do not ask Shaffer drivers to volunteer most likely you’re going to either head Lexington, Nebraska to Tyson or you gonna go to Grand Island Nebraska to JBS
