They don't want you even showing up and checking in until they send you your loaded trailer number. You don't even get a valid pu#, in this case it's the trailer number you will be picking up. In Mira Loma you would get the trailer number and a PO# once it was loaded.

Question. In the case of a temperature mismatch, why not just set the reefer to the temp on the bills and roll while corporate fixes whatever they need to fix?

When I drove for Magnum they never gave me temps to follow. They assumed we were responsible adults that would follow whatever temperature that were on the bills. Sometimes the load info would say what the load might be at temperature wise and/or type of product but we were always expected to follow the stated temp on the BOL

Sounds like another problem caused by low hiring standards. Drivers who can think for themselves have silly issues to deal with. I would not he sitting and waiting for the desk driver to fix a computer mismatch.

It won't let you do a load call on the Peoplenet if the trailer's setpoint and cycle mode don't match what the system says. So, if the bills say -10 s/s and the computer says 0 cont, it kicks it out and you have to have ops change the system to match the bills. And because our system is a workflow style, you would have to manually depart on the system so you could arrive at the next location. Plus going down the road, the system would message you if the trailer and the load info weren't the same.

You have to know what temp to precool to before you get to the shipper. Not precooling would make you sit and wait before the shipper will load you. Especially when it's 100° outside and you're picking up a frozen -10 load. Plus, at Magnum, they had the option of changing your reefer remotely, so if they didn't like what you had it set at, they could adjust it for you.

There are times when it does that temperature mismatch and I’ll just get going down the road and the next place I stopped I’ll resend the loaded call… That way I’m not wasted time I’ve done that numerous times

In that case, I set the reefer and roll, and let my dispatcher fix everything in the system.

    There’s another option.
