Started out ok. A little after my A/M came in, I get a message that they're still waiting on an updated appointment for me to deliver this load tomorrow. I message that it needs to be after 7 because it took me until after 21:30 last night to make it from Chicago to Whiteland because of all the traffic issues. Then we get a message that there is a problem with Peoplenet. The office can send messages but can't receive any replies right now. But, it doesn't stop them from sending out yet another 'recruit more drivers' propaganda. Then I get a message from my A/M 'they will live unload you whenever you get there tomorrow'. Cool. Then the Peoplenet messages started working right in the office again. Just shortly before Lincoln's quitting time, I get a preplan. Pu in Winchester tomorrow, del in Winter Haven on Monday any time. Great, home early, I'll take it. 10 min after I accept the preplan, I get an appointment update for my current load...now it's a set appointment for Sunday, not open delivery tomorrow...BOOOOOOOOM...I kindly requested that the they make up their friggin mind. How can a driver make any kind of plans when this kind of load planning takes place

Trying to predict how they're gonna plan things here is like playing trucking's version of whack-a-mole

Actual quote to me from a dispatcher at a former company:“We at the home office, have no idea of what you drivers go thru, so when we mess up please don’t get mad at us”.

I can’t print my response on here to that. Hopefully it gets better for SSB.

The holiday unload went faster than normal, then the pickup of the home load went fine, however I wasn't able to get as far as I wanted yesterday, so that made it a 600 mile day today, which means, I won't be home until tomorrow...just in time for a 2 day tropical storm rain event. I came as close as I have ever been to not finding parking. After my Winter Haven drop, the Haines City Pilot was full (including the rent-a-spots). The Love's north of I-4 on US-27 was full. Both west and eastbound rest areas were full just east of the Polk City Love's. The Polk City Love's was over flowing as was the place across the street. I ended up going back east to some rinky dink Marathon with a total of 6 parking spots, 2 of which had dropped trailers in them, and one had a truck with his curtains pulled, but no engine running in this wonderful central FL heat, so he is most likely at home.

I have confidence that storm will roll over on itself once it clears Cuba, and head east towards the Atlantic. I’m no meteorologist, but I watch the rotation, and if you look at the weather north of it, it moved east above Cuba. Here’s praying.

Well, it may just hit hurricane status before hitting land. Where I live we are already under a tropical storm warning. We're expecting 2-4" of rain over the next 36 hrs, and some wind. Another words, just another summer day in Florida.
