Busted a gut getting my crap loaded in the rental car, hauled arse to the new (to me) truck. Found the keys, unlocked it and...the truck has NOT been emptied out of the other drivers personal gear like I was told it would be...it was 22:30, I was tired, so I hit a hotel and called it a day...oh, and after I had all my crap loaded, and went in to the shop office to tell the shop boss where I left the keys, he was surprised I was being reassigned a truck so soon. When I told him that the weekend crew said it was going to Freightliner...he went into the parts room and pulled out the replacement part that had been delivered an hour before. Nobody bothered to say a word to me...and I was right there cleaning out my truck the whole time they were tinkering with it to make sure it was indeed defective.

Things are coming totally unraveled. Got to the hotel around midnite, at 7 am my A/M calls and wonders when I will be getting to the truck. Told the whole story and that I am waiting for Deland to come in and get with Lincoln about what to do. He calls back a little later and says I am taking truck and trailer back to Deland, with the drivers stuff and they will deal with it. So I get a shower, and while I am brewing my mini cup of in room coffee, he calls back and tells me that they are going to run the truck to Marietta instead (it is closer than Deland), but, they want me to pick up a load. No friggin way, this truck has all the other drivers gear in it, including their personal big fluffy mattress. There is no f'g way my stuff will fit with their stuff. I was gonna put my stuff between 2 load lock in the trailer on my clean out tarp. So now he was messaging back and forth with Lincoln AND trying to keep up with all his other driver. I told him, to have Lincoln call me directly so that he isn't in the middle and getting behind.
Now, Lincoln said I have to pull a load...so I told them that won't work because there isn't room for my stuff in the cab and I offered an alternate plan, I could return the rental car to Deland, and stop by and unload my stuff at the house and they can have a Coke and a smile, and a healthy helping of kiss my ###. This, like every thing else this company does, is a total 3 ring gong show.Last edited: Jun 21, 2022

Lincoln just can't comprehend the amount of gear that many Professional Truck Drivers have on the truck. It's a home away from home, not a day cab.

If the former driver can't unload the truck or get it unloaded, they should just rent a small storage unit locally and have you bobtail there. Then negotiate a price to unload the truck or have them hire day labor to clean it out. Taking the former driver's gear to a terminal hundreds of miles away is stupid.
Who's going to unload the driver's gear at a terminal and where are they going to put it?nredfor88, Gearjammin' Penguin and Lonesome Thank this. -
I can’t believe he’s still putting up with this crap. I’d drive the rental car to the house, unload and then find out where to drop off the car. Too many jobs available to put up with this.

Different management at Crete back then. Whole different world there now.

A safety critter and someone from Ops are both supposed to be on-site and they offload the driver's gear into storage tubs, held for x number of days (depending on situation).
I know it seems dumb to run the truck 200 miles for this, but in the long run its cheaper than answering a small claims court suit.nredfor88, Gearjammin' Penguin, Geekonthestreet and 3 others Thank this. -
All I can say is SSB has exponentially more patience than I. I left Crete for considerably less in terms of failing to get me somewhere I needed to be.
But as it had to do with family, that was my last straw. And there weren’t many straws left in the package anyway.Bumper, Speed_Drums, jethro712 and 4 others Thank this. -
Lonesome Thanks this.
