Why should the manager take a paycut...he is part of the union just like the rest of the workers that would have gone on strike. And the company had a choice, meet our demands and sign our contract or we go on strike and all production stops...just like the mafia saying pay for our protection or we break your kneecaps...like @keebler13579 posted, unions had their place in time, but now they should be outlawed. You will never convince me otherwise, unions are a bunch of spoiled, whiney ###, entitled crybabies stomping their feet and holding their breath until they get their way...their leadership should be prosecuted for extortion.

    Dude,
A lot of water haulers in the oilfield are paid by the hour. On my way back in to Midland at the end of the night I pass water haulers going 40-45 MPH on a road with a speed limit of 75 because they’re trying to ride the clock.

I get paid by the hour and it never ceases to amaze how many drivers ##### non stop about wanting to be paid that way and when they get it, they abuse it.

I tell drivers to always act like their being watched because, I guarantee, on some spreadsheet somewhere in the office, they are.

    A little further down:
"When employees are paid on a piece-rate basis, the employer may calculate the regular rate by adding all earnings for the week (such as the piece rate, production bonuses and any waiting-time pay) and dividing the total by the number of hours worked in the week, including productive and nonproductive time and overtime hours."

Yes with 'may' being the key term. With piecework there are many options.

PU tcall at PHX yard original PU from shipper in northern California! How the ## was this person driving illegally in ca. Do they just don't care or don't know better? I have no issue and know how to adjust tandems but this is the 3rd time I've picked up a tcalled load and the tandems were illegal and there was no scale ticket provided... what ever happened to common courtesy or doing what you truly should do before tcalling or repowering a load, they are hiring true knuckleheads... marrietta drivers lounge had a half eaten open publix breaded chicken wings + green turnip or collard greens laying on the table festering with a fly hanging around, I looked at the takeout boxes date it was 2 days old? There's a camera cctv right there they know just like poorly tcalled loads or hot potato loads who the prior person was! Wish standards would go up and they held drivers accountable for horsh888t but I guess that's asking a perfect world...safe travels! Screenshot_20231122_164529_Weigh My Truck.jpg

I think Cali only cares when they want to. We pull flatbeds with adjustable rear axles so you can slide forward to the CA bridge setting, and drivers come in to our Cali yard to drop with them spread out.

Depending on where in northern CA it's possible they cut east then south. Also, they care more about the bridge law then weight, especially that close. That said there are issues with drivers dropping loads that aren't legal for CA. Luckily only happened to me once, but seen sever others complain about it. I've had shippers rework if I can't get legal.

Happened to me,and it needed to be reworked.
Unless it’s obviously legal,I usually write down weights on a sticky note and put it on the BOL.
Seems like especially my terminal (Wilmer)
they care more about the quantity(Recruit ,recruit ,recruit )than they do about the quality of drivers.
