Yeah I think they are all doing that now. At least the ones I've been going to.

@supersnackbar you've dealt with the Crete family a lot. Do you think they are going to hold up when the market crashes?

I’ve been off the road for about 9 months (I’ve be been at college doing the non-traditional nightmare), but the savings are drying up and I’ve got to resume being an adult again. I’ve got a few places I’ve been looking at, but after dealing with a different mega for most of the last 3 years…I really just want to make sure I can clear 800-900 a week (net) without having to kick and scream for it. And that was with me staying out 2-3 months at a time, never turning down loads, and not failing loads .

Absolutely. This company has 0 debt. Every piece of equipment is paid for before it's delivered, every terminal is owned without a mortgage payment. Not to mention, it is privately owned, no public investors to appease. I survived the '08 great recession at Crete. It wasn't pretty, but they got thru it just fine.

I honestly forgot how bad chicken plants smell. I first learned to drive a truck while I was working at one. This short load I am picking up going to Abingdon is from a small chicken plant. The plant may be small, but the stink isn't. And, because of the timing of my loads, I ended up spending the night here.

I will also add, the primary reason I came back here is for the stability. After working for a Daseke company, then Daseke sold out to W-TFI, and seeing the low profits the whole W-TFI corporation had for the 4th quarter last year, I needed a company that can stay in business. I think Acklie had a more profitable 4th quarter than the whole combined 100+ companies at W-TFI. No, I don't like the nanny systems or the way they have their trucks set, no I don't like micromanaging, but this company is profitable and has kept their 401k match and profit sharing the same thru this freight recession...that says a lot to me.

Yup, I was a Creten back then too. For all their faults, they are a rock solid company.
