I hear you there, glad I was able to do the job, but counting the next few years until it’s time to hang up the keys.

I know the feeling. I finally retired and quit trucking in 2011 long before electronic logs, computers, auto. trans and more sensors than anyone could possibly need driving a person crazy. Do I miss driving a semi, yes but the wife and I stop at truckstops along our travels with the 5th wheel rv. I still like talking with fellow drivers and I will on occasion buy someone dinner or lunch. The times today are too crazy for me.

one of the reasons why I went back to regional and will probably stay on it permanently. I got tired of being away from home for a month at a time just to see the worst of society

Home every weekend now and I never have to worry about parking, doing laundry on the road, worrying about when and where I'm going to shower, etc..

Mainly stay within a 5 state area as well

GRMN-2025-05-20_15-38-14-Front-1.jpeg Ups team truck decides when i turned to line up with spot to park in that it’s appropriate to pull right up to the side of my truck as i’m backing up…mind you they didn’t even stay there in the lot either….i was further up than what this snap shot shows closer to the trl when they made their move.

What’s laughable even more if they did not even stay in the parking lot, they turned around and left

They got my truck done by around 1400. My AM had T'called the load to Gaffney so that they could repower it and get it to the customer by yesterday's original delivery date, but couldn't find a driver to get it there. So, they reassigned it to me after my truck was done and got the delivery date bumped out so I can deliver this morning. After that I have a live load from a waffle company in a small town out in the woods northwest of Greenville, SC going back up to Lebanon, IN for Thursday evening.

I'm there now. Got here a little late because the drop in Gaffney took a little longer than planned. Plus there was a line of trucks out to the street waiting for a washout in Duncan. I also had an issue getting dispatched on this load. Did my empty call like I always do at the receiver, and I was sitting in the washout line and still hadn't gotten my load info. I messaged my AM, no replay, I called her, and got her voicemail. I did my empty call 2 more times before I got my load...turns out, The Princess isn't in today again...next call was to initiate kicking her to the curb. I went thru having a dispatcher go MIA randomly at SPD, I am not going thru that again here. The call kinda sounded threatening if you weren't paying attention. It was *what's the procedure for kicking your asset manager to the curb"...but if they heard a pause halfway thru asset, it sounded like "what is the procedure to kick your ###"
