Standalone Truck GPS units that are NOT Rand McNally?

Well, I called Rand today and confirmed that the TND 740 is abandonware. Map updates are 'supposed' to happen at the end of the year, every year, but there was no update for the TND 740 in December, nor is one scheduled.

This is the second piece of abandonware I have bought from Rand.

Can anyone suggest a decent Truck GPS from a company that gives a #### and provides more than one map update in the lifetime of the device?

    I would like:

A screen at least 5 but no more than 7 inches or so diagonal. No full-size tablets.

Wireless or Bluetooth data connection for downloading. Using my laptop and a data connection is doable, but rather not.

A power dock rather than a power connection that plugs into the unit.

    Windshield mount.

Copilot truck app, they update maps frequently, but it does not have all the bells and whistles of Rand or Garmin

I really would prefer a standalone device, not an app.

Well, I wasn't aware of that unfortunately when I bought my TND 740 back in February. But considering that there has been no map updates since 2018... it does seem to be the case. (and it's showing too.. especially in Dallas Tx.)

There are quite a few Loves truck stops that aren't showing up either.

I could do that, but most normal tablets require wired connections. One thing the Rand TND 740 got VERY right was the magnetic coupling power connection instead of a wired connection to the device itself.

Like my road atlas, my Tom Tom 620 has been doing a great job for over 4 years and updates thru the my drive app on my phone. Just gps and none of the other ######## you don’t need
