How can you be good with them keeping what they have no right to keep? Certain charges should ALWAYS be passed 100% to the truck owner. Fsc is one of them.

I still contribute to my IRA whether I run 1000 miles or 10000 per month. Every little contribution adds up in the long run.
My business model is simple.. run more when the rates are high, and park when they’re low. If I don’t average $2.25 per mile on my total miles including deadhead, I don’t run. That’s .20cpm less than my rolling average for the past 12 months but that’s my minimum.
I spend less in maintenance and repairs by running less miles. I also have no truck or trailer payment, no mortgage and no extravagant bills. My truck insurance is my highest fixed expense at $1000 per month.
The main thing for any business is keeping your operating costs in check. The next is knowing when you’re spending too much and getting that number under control.
I think you have a good handle on what you’re doing, I just have no desire to drive that many miles. I spend more time with my wife and kids than with my truck and I wouldn’t have it any other way.flying_gage, lynchy and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -

My tax acount has 4k set aside in it, and is NOT included in available assets.
I will also mention that I fuel and try to work in all trailer services exclusively at Loves. As a diamond member, I never pay for a shower. I get at least one, sometimes two or three free soft drink or coffee refills per day. I get 4 cents per gallon of all fuel and DEF purchased, including reefer fuel which I do not actually pay for. Every now and then they pay me extra points for stuff I was buying anyway, like antigel.
So, my rewards income from Loves is @ 4.00 per day for fuel, plus 2.00 or so per day from free drinks. I do not know how much showers cost these days, as it's been a long time since I paid for one. I generally take one every other day. Getting trailer service work done also gets me points for stuff I do not pay for, which is nice. The Loves rewards are not terribly exciting on a daily basis, but over the long term they add up nicely.
Every single thing I do (other than fuel, trailer repairs, and lumper fees) is paid with a credit card that has 1% cash back on all purchases. This includes all of my truck's service work. I pay the card off several times a week to maintain 0 balance. No annual fee. Again, it's not very impressive to get $22 dollars back when I paid $2200 for truck repairs, but that's two day's food for free when I buy three subs at a Subway.
I will obviously have a better idea of where I stand after my first quarterly estimated tax gets worked up by the accounting company. Yes I am happy to pay an accounting company 93 dollars a month, for now. They automatically pull my settlement data from Crete/Shaffer, and all I have to do is send them emails with images of my expense receipts by the 10th of each month.

Do you get workman comp from Crete? It's very cheap. How was that amount calculated?

If anything running like this will teach you to run as efficient as possible. I started in 2008 and I remember in 2009 it got to where I didn’t pay myself for a couple months to scrape by. Overall, looking back it made my business much stronger.
If you are down to figuring reward points at loves then that’s getting down to the nitty gritty. lol I truly do hope that you have a good learning experience and then move onto better opportunity while your still operational.
