In about 3 months, I will be done finishing. What are the odds that an experienced driver would want to perhaps team up? Is there some "minimum" (official or courtesy) time that people should team up if they're going to team at all?

Suggest you drive solo for a year to polish your skills. I have seen teams where a driver will wake the other cause they can't back or hold up their end of the deal. My wife and I teamed but didn't do the others job while in the bunk. Got to carry your weight if you wanna team.
Dreamboat Thanks this. -
The Oldman speaks wisely. It takes more than just driving skills to make a good team. Carrying your own weight is part of it...that goes for your partner too. Who drives nights, who drives days? Can I sleep with your head banging music on...does my partner eat meat or a vegan...(this goes to stop logistics and whose nasty food takes all the space in the fridge...home time requirements are different...the honeymoon is usually over in a couple of weeks.
Go solo grasshoppa...After a year, become a finisher to make the extra moneyOldman49 Thanks this. -
Wait until you at least get some time in a truck before you worry about it. I used to do a few team runs for an expedited carrier and wound up driving the whole trip because I can't sleep while the truck is moving. Every time you hit a bump or the wind or road rocks the truck side to side you swear it's the end of you. Some people have no problem with it. You will find out what type you are while you're on your trainers truck.

As stated - I'd just run it solo for a while and get used to the whole deal.

So. What you're all saying is that the odds are piss poor to unbelievable. I see myself as a future mentor, thinking I would actually like taking someone under my wing. But I've been known to have delusions.

Seriously, thanks for all your input. It is what I expected to hear. -
It may seem like a fun idea but also remember the general type of person that becomes a truck driver and being locked in a 6x8 box with them 24/7 for 4-6 weeks and your company picks who goes on your truck. I could count on one finger the number of people I would be willing to live with in those conditions

I hear you.

You will have a better time of it solo anyways. Get used to living in a closet. It's not even a matter of carrying your weight, it's a matter of sharing a living space the size of a small bathroom with someone else. Plus you'd have to find someone in the same area, with similar home-time needs, with a desire to do as you do in regards to Passport/Hazmat. You could find a team mate, though you'd have a better time of it @ Joplin/Lancaster/Laredo/Taylor, talk to the other drivers.
Alternatively when you start/if you start finishing drivers you may pick a teamster out of the students if you click with one of them.Dreamboat Thanks this. -
Thanks , Salad! I'm in Joplin now. Not that I'm ready to do that.
