Once I’m in my own truck, I’ll go back to back sleeping but if side sleeping helps, I’m going to do it. I need to make sure my trainer gets a great night sleep and isn’t frustrated.

mid love to hear from some trainers that have had students that snore in the truck with them.

Reefer drivers probably wont care. I pull reefers and drive teams. We both sleep parked sometimes also.

I do not do 6-week training, still being a new driver myself, but do train people sometimes on my specific job. Like doing paperwork, tips driving urban areas, etc. I have had plenty of guys that snore loudly in my truck. It did not bother me. Stuff like that which cannot be helped is easily forgiven.

But I'm a reefer team driver. You could peobably roll the truck and I may or may not wake up. My partner complains he cannot wake me up even by yelling my name and shaking me. Lol

I wouldn't worry about it. He's a trainer and he should be used to share a truck with a diverse group of people.

You gave me an idea for my Reefer Teddy Bear. Add snoring to the idling and reefer sounds! Brilliant!

Reefer Bear for home time. It makes idling truck sounds, APU, Reefer sounds with the vibrations, and occasional air horn.

Uhhh I'm not sure where you got this infor but there are several trainers at Millis that team with their student. Is it required by Millis like most companies? No, but its also not forbidden here either. Do I team with my students? No It will all depend on your trainer.

As for the snoring dont worry about it. Im usually so fn exhausted when I have a student that nothing will keep me awake. Ive had students that snore, I will usually leave the TV on to drown out the noise. But so far I haven't had 1 that kept me awake.

You are mistaken. I am at MTI, right now, in Cartersville, Georgia. Millis trainees from Cartersville, Georgia leave the facility with a CDL AP, which is a permit, not a license. Therefore, it is required that the trainer be not only awake, but on duty in the seat beside the trainee until such time as the trainee gets his/her CDL. You can't be in the seat beside the driver, if you are in the bunk sleeping.

Now, that may change as Millis is now offering CDL tests on site, but to date, no one has left with a CDL license from Cartersville MTI. Maybe I'll be the first.

"Must operate the appropriate class of vehicle and be accompanied by a person who is licensed to drive that class of vehicle, who is fit and capable of exercising control of the vehicle and who is occupying a seat beside the driver." - Georgia DDS

I have Snore Lab on my iPhone which I put face down on the bed. It records the actual snoring as well as tracking it by time. Then I also have Sleeplus that works with a sleep mask and downloads to the iPhone.

You dont need to worry about snoring with just your learners permit. You wont be going very far.

You will hit the road with a trainer once you are legal to drive a semi without supervision.

That is not how it works at Millis Transfer. We hit the road with a trainer straight out of school. Then drive 5 - 8 weeks with a trainer using solo dispatch. We take the CDL test in the trainer's truck.

This may change now that they have a CDL Examiner on site but to date, no one has left with a CDL license from Cartersville until after training with the trainer.

Here's a great video from someone who has done it recently. There are several trainees that have made videos of their journey.
