Trailer damage dilemma

That looks possible too given that it has the ramp pins. I just don’t see how that happened while backing up and scraping something given that the back edge piece appears to be pulled *away*. Maybe if he pulled forward afterwards and snagged it on something that could happen, but I still don’t see any scrape marks

 

Get out and look before backing into a spot - nails, screws, obstructions etc. You know what you failed to do, don't sweat it, we've all 'assumed' and lost before.

I've done worse. Way worse.

 

That is damage from the ICC bumper hitting something not a side strike.

No damage to rub rail; reflective sticker still in tact.

Bumper is pushed forward, stake pocket is twisted, and bed lip is pulled back with no damage to side.

If it was my trailer, I would be more concerned with the drivers explanation rather than repair.

 

Yeah I see it now. He said he hit a wall that was hidden by snow.

If you’re backing into somewhere, do it slowly enough to where it won’t cause that kind of damage if you accidentally bump something.

 

Absolutely. Being a stand-up guy gets you stood on (like a door mat) more often than not. By all means admit to your own mistakes but as stated it is the cost of doing business.

 

Well and the amount out time the trailer would be out of service waiting to be repaired has to be accounted for also. The loss of revenue would most likely be worse than the repair bill, so if I’m the boss I’m saying keep running it until it can be swapped out with a spare unit.

 

My bet is the trailer was damaged when you hooked up to it & you didn’t notice it until after you were worried you had hit something.

 

If I owned that trailer, I’d be more concerned about the build quality. They shouldn’t come apart like that. Even if aluminum. In a slow hit it should hold together much better than that. Bend a little as time goes by with use is expected tho.
