    Hey y'all :)

Hope the day has been wonderful for all of my fellow drivers! I just wanted to get some advice on how to throw straps better over tall loads because my wrists are killing me now. Also what is an easier, more efficient way to fold the excess strap.

Some tie a light rope to the strap, then throw the light rope over the load. Then go to the other side and start pulling.
I didn't do it that way though; I'd stand with my back to the load, then with both hands, throw the coiled strap over my head and back over the load.
If you do it this way, secure the bitter end of the strap to the trailer first.

Been a while since I pulled a flatbed, but I used to roll it up and throw it over like baseball.

B0A9F14A-B3D4-4F61-B348-13D238165C96.png I take my straps off winches after every is. Roll them up with the hook out. Then when I need to throw again I can hook the hook, take the rolled up strap then throw it over. I fold my straps up, then slide it thru winch and keep excess like this. Also tightens better in my opinion. I’m sure someone can explain better

That’s what I was going to say. After watching many folks dinging their wheels throwing the hook and having been hit by a flying hook or 3 I changed to throwing the strap and it seems to save an extra trip around the trailer

This. Except never secured the J hook first. Strap your load and don't crank it down completely. For taking care of the excess for the most part I have always rolled it up so it you lay the rolled part flat, it would be 8 to 12 inches and slip it under the strap that is securing the load, then tighten it down all the way. Lots of You Tube videos. Some loads you might not be able to do it this way so you will have to be inventive

    Ok
    I’ll try this without video
I roll my straps tail side in and words on strap inside the roll
That way I can hook them and when I throw them they Unroll correctly

I hook the strap to the trailer. Walk back 15’ or so while unrolling it. Far enough to clear the load once I throw it
Then I take the roll. Walk forward some and make a loop and a sling
Once you have the sling and it’s pinched against the roll you have a lot more throwing power
I searched for a video but couldn’t find one so I took a couple pics. Imaging the strap is hooked to the trailer
Once over. I fold the strap and put it through the winch and push it through the other side with a flat thin piece of aluminum as dot would want to see it through both slots if they inspect it

I usually attach D ring to hook and then make sure I have lots of slack and throw it over. You can use 2 hands to build up more momentum. Before Id try holding hook/Dring in my left and and throw with right hand and that didn't work well.
