Trucker wages...decreasing as time goes by.

There's actually too many trucks and shortage of good paying loads. Mega carriers are taking all loads and even cheap ones. They swallow them but like whale swallows plankton

 

Oh yeah, you got that right. We need to shop at mom and pop businesses. As much as possible. Only go to restaurants that are open, not just the drive thur, tip the wattress/waiter well. Unless they are horrible, which you will find for a while. Until people get off their couch and get jobs.

 

Mega carriers are like Walmart and Amazon.
They do it through volume. The small losses are simply absorbed through the greater gain.

The small folk can not really compete on that level. They simply do not have the resources.

 

Running one load at cost or less is felt for a good 2 months to a one truck show.

 

Just as WM and AMZ killed small business, so will the megas kill off smaller fleets or acquire them. This is plan, central control of everything. Who has a controlling interest in the megas? Blackrock or Vanguard or both? Just some food for thought who thinks capitalism is working for them, not to say the communism is any better.

 

How long is deadheading 1000 miles to a good paying load because they “don’t haul cheap freight” (even if it covers their expenses) felt for?

 

That all depends, what's the load they're bouncing to pay, what did the load to the cheap area pay?

 

it is what it is....if the end of the week is what counts with hungry little birdies to feed, a nasty ex-wife and other bills to pay, probably beats working at a crappy warehouse job, then going to the pizza place to deliver pizzas. Trucking sucks these days, I make the same money on some days that I made 20 years, etc, other days like today, it was a $500 dollar day and back home too. Not too bad for a dope that drives a truck.
