I see no reason for the VIN requirement. I, as a lowly civilian, can take your DOT number and find out anything I want to know about your company. I’m sure the cops can find out anything they need to know by running your DOT number.

I was just about to say the same thing. I have Company name, MC and DOT. Why does everyone want to put city/state? I think the less info the better. I could care less where you're from and don't care for you to know where I'm from, quite frankly. Unfortunately trucking these days is not a brotherhood.

    whoopNride and kenn2632 Thank this.

I have my name, logo, and city and state on the door on both sides. DOT,MC are on the back along with the last 8 of my vin. Has worked for me so far. Both my rig and my grain hauling drivers rig are set up that way.

I like having my 20 on the truck - sparks a conversation every now and then.

“Come on back there neighbor - headed to the house?”

There’s days I reflect the same.

Usually when I see the world through tired eyes.

People need to read the freaking federal regs.... That is ALL that is required by law in ALL States if you're an interstate carrier.

    It's very... Very simple.

VIN might not be REQUIRED, but in certain states, it speeds up the process of passing their scales. The more incognito I can be, the better. I would rather roll thru and keep moving than have to stop and check in with my permit book.

Then how come trucks have to be CARB compliant to enter California?
