Most of the time there won’t be a long wait for a loading dock door, but it does happen. More often is the long wait for the actual unloading and/or paperwork. And once in a while I’ve run into the “no appointment” issue, too, usually due to an error by our freight broker.
I try not to let it bother me! -
You'll love showing up at 10 am appt. and guard shack says your appt. is for 10 PM !!!
OrangeBox, firemedic2816, tarmadilo and 2 others Thank this. -
Any appointment on a holiday or Mon holiday ALWAYS PERSONALLY CALL CUSTOMER TO CONFIRM THEY WILL BE OPEN. DON'T TAKE ANYONE'S WORD BUT THE CUSTOMER'S. YOU, PERSONALLY CALL & CONFIRM. "Dispatcher already called", NOPE. "Customer already confirmed with someone else", NOPE. When you are assigned the load, confirm with delivery customer same day. You will be the schmuck sitting around for 24 hours if they forget about the holiday, so you make the confirmation call. No excuses.

Yeah also, when you are delivering close to Mexico border, maybe a Mex broker, be aware they "celebrate" Mex holidays, one's we never heard of. Such and such this, such and such that. Place locked up , hey, its mex holiday !!!.

Awesome tips guys.
so short recap of the end of this 70.
Ill definitely be calling customers direct from now on.
I ended up getting a service failure, basically because of that 3/4 hour wait days ago. (Is that a dac reported thing? Worried ;(
How>>
I am 40 minutes from the final drop, and out of hours on the 70. So close, but that wait killed me, days later. First week about 3k miles.
Dispatch advise I shouldve been in sleeper but I thought if were detained and unable to leave the truck, thats not allowed?Last edited: Jun 9, 2024
