I see upon checking weather apps that the valley of the sun is now enjoying (suffering) triple digit heat and recent traffic observation here makes me think the last of the snowbirds have journeyed north. Triple digit temps bad for beast and really bad for open deck humans.

Guess I better break down and put some tires on my pickup. These are six (6) years old with 55000 miles. Gotta get it inspected next month

Yup. I've done enough flatbed work to know that I really prefer tankers or even rgn but my favorite is logs. No tarps.
It's funny though, and entertaining, when a bunch of flatbed drivers get together and all their stories are about things that went wrong.
Flatbed isn't really all that bad...until it is.

Why you wear sharp toe boots like them cowboys..
Can hold on your top inside rail slat with toe in deck level (Older trailers/not pot) and go up there to show them the way to go.
Agile, surefooted, clean, or slip and you are in the $&^/.

Agreed, when flatbed goes wrong, it’s not a good time.

Chicken livers, spread on foil on top of the dog house in backyard, early AM. Let cure till sundown, rake up and load on a trot line.
Boat need to be 16" deep to haul the next morning catch in....
