Go kiddo is right usually if frozin product is loaded say at -10 it is easier to mainmaintainsetpoint OT say - 12 do it all the time. The variance is about 6 ° the freeze does not break whereas in a chilled load it matters a great deal for instance load meant to be at 34 ° u put it on auto or cycle sentry 5 or 6 ° would make a lot of difference thus fuel costs are lower when hauling frozen my experience

Not sure that I agree with my current company on this, but they insist that every load be kept on continuous rather than cycle. Their point is that it causes too much fluctuation in temperature and more wear and tear on the cycle mode. I do know it burns more fuel, but not sure that I believe their logic. Oh well, I'm not buying the fuel and I've never lost a load over temp settings.

Continuous or start/stop mode makes an enormous difference.

A -10 frozen food start/stop load will burn about the same fuel as a continuous 34 produce load.

Also, as mentioned above, the temp of the product compared to the setpoint is critical too.

Get a load of produce in the truck at 60 degrees, with a setpoint of 34, and it is going to run long and hard, burning a lot of fuel while trying to cool 20 tons of oranges, or whatever.
