I'm looking into Sage and like most other schools i found it seems like they just train you. How do i go about getting my actual CDL? Ill need to get my license from my current state of residence right? ... which is not where the school is located. So how does it work? Do i finish training, go home, somehow find a truck i can borrow or rent and use it to take the CDL test in my hometown? This seems like a simple question, but I'm finding it very difficult to answer.
    Thanks!

All schools I've looked into either have cdl examiners employed or will allow you to use their equipment to test at a state test site. For the out of state, you will be issued a 90 day temporary in the state of the school and get a perm in your home state.

They (one of your instructors) will test you out in their (the schools) equipment at the end of the class.

I went with Sage as well. They prep you to get your permit, you use that to practice driving with their equipment. Then on the test date, you will use that same equipment to test with. If your campus has multiple trucks, I recommend you try to practice with all trucks so you are comfortable with all of them if the one you prefer is not available that day. I was fortunate and used the exact same truck and trailer for the duration of the course and test.

The state examiner actually came to our campus to administer the test there. But this may vary from state to state.
