There is no such thing as a recession-proof company. I know the question said industry, but you are not working for an industry you are working IN an industry. I'm not going to get deep into this issue. Just know that a company can fail for reasons other than slow or reduced sales. As a recession deepens at some point getting a job in any of these so-called recession-proof companies is almost impossible.

Here is another problem. Let's say you work for XYZ Logistics and carry food in your reefer. XYZ say has 1000 trucks. What's to stop a larger carrier like Crete or Swift from cutting XYZs throat and underbidding them? This throat-cutting happens even in a good economy. It will get MUCH worse in a deep recession! I think the best thing for a driver to do is stop job hopping and avoid accidents. Then if a position in a bad recession opens up you stand a great chance of getting it.

While it may not be 100% recession proof, you can add mobile medical imaging to this list—ESPECIALLY during times of pandemic. Aside from inept asset/money management, about the only thing that can torpedo that segment of the industry is fuel. The best thing about it is that healthcare is most definitely an essential service...and since it involves no freight at all its not subject to the freight market, spot or otherwise. Pays pretty well, too, if you can find a reputable company to work for.

Just prepare to pull/back those tail-heavy beast trailers into some of the absolute most crap-hole spots you've ever seen in your life!

Always thought I’d be a good funeral director, “How’s business, Judge?”

“Ah, it’s a little stiff these days.”

Thank you. Emergency! launched countless EMS careers and is directly responsible for the rapid uptake of paramedics in the U.S.

Personally, I’d be okay being rolled into the hole as-is. Spending good money on a container for a carcass makes no sense. But the entire industry trades on guilt.
