I bet he catches hell from all the other guys at his barn though. Probably will until he retires.

This, children, is why you don't listen to the Chip Chipperson Podacast while backing into a dock.

Sounds like the facility is a factor, but as mentioned, what was up with the driver's depth perception?. Could he not see that there was nothing but fresh air beyond the ramp?....or the bright yellow diamond plate steel. You know, the stuff that loading bay ramps (and not driveways) are made of?.

Probably happened in the dark and driver couldn't see the drop off.

Quite possible, however, if it was too dark to see the drop off it would have been too dark to see the road ahead...or lack thereof.

GOAL doesn't just apply to backing.

I deliver to a few Publix stores in the Venice/Englewood area that if you're in hurry and unfamiliar with the area I can see that happening. Especially if delivering at night as there's little to no light.

The entrance to the back is 'flushed with the Dock' so if you continue driving you'd have that photo happen - Publix just build yellow pillars in Englewood my guess is a four wheeler did that driving in the area behind the store.

    Mike2633 and Redtwin Thank this.

There's a great dashcam video of two old ladies looking for a business in one of those areas. You hear them wondering where the place is and they drop off one of those types of docks with no idea what happened, then try to put it in reverse to get out. Hilarious.

That video is exactly how the Publix dock in Englewood are like.
