Then practice this phrase "would you like to super-size that for $1 more?" Or "welcome to Walmart, you want a buggy?" It's coming, it's law. They may have lawsuits to delay it...but it is inevitable. So, you can learn to adapt and work the system or take a 9-5.

And don't forget that mega company Landstar for it as well...oh wait, that's an owner operator only company... but they still force e-log on new BCO's...dang, they must be anti-O/O....

we'd all be singing "God save the queen" had the founding fathers felt the same as you. they'd console each other by saying they're beating the brits at their own game tho. -

Yes, for the average driver, myself included, the HOS is the issue and paper makes it easier to cheat. I don't do it that often and I don't do it to afford a pbj. Strange assumption if you ask me.
There are other reasons though. The company I'm with looked into put them in a few years ago but decided it wasn't worth the cost at the time. Yes, it cost money.
The cost is just one reason, there are many others.JimmyWells Thanks this. -

Im a patriot as much as anyone here who loves America, but I sit here over coffee and read carefully the back and forth.
I think back to 1998 when people first started talking about electronic logs. The refrain from company management everywhere, not going to happen. Too expensive. WIll need to hire immigrants to make up for the losses in good drivers and so forth on and ad infinite.
Well, here we are. Now what? drive your 11 hours, find a lawful parking spot and try to be a good professional by leaving only your tire tracks and nothing else behind.
I fear the weight of technology more than ever. We are literally being reduced from Captian of the Ship with a overall directive such as be in City of Industry next week on the 24th from today. And you were expected to be showing up at City of Industry on the 23rd at the latest. Perhaps earlier if you had a good run and got unloaded. By then someone in your company will have you loaded back east somewhere. And you have a date and time to be there. A quick and fast examination of your hours availible next 8 days combined with a quick 35 mph fleet average speed applied to a pay miles which itself is inflated another 20% to account for actual ground miles. Between these two math problems you will determine also your fuel burn, where you will be parking at night or day to finish out your required sleeper rest period. and so on. A true professional will be picking up the phone in a few minutes to have a new appointment time established if necessary. Now, not 7 days from now and 20 miles before you go out of hours for the day prior to delivery arrival.
Then there is the question of fuel, money to eat and hydrate and possibly a little bit of free time worked in along the trip route so you can capture for yourself a little bit of downtime visiting a airfield, museum or steam train or a beach etc for a few hours. Trucking is a oppertunity to see all of the USA and to enjoy the same. I remember when I stopped into a Carnival to get street food for dinner at McAlester Ok after using 4 gallons of bug fluid to get past the lake to the north to get to the place. Found the people less than talkative more than usual. A few well placed Qcomm messages to dispatch asking about history of the town revealed it's open secret as Bomb Factory USA. Anything that went boom was made here. No wonder the People are secretive and tight lipped. Patriots all. The street food at the carny was adequate and well made and made for a good evening to roll on.
It's way better to work in some downtime for yourselves to enjoy the things that interest you personally and maybe come here on the forums and teach others about it.
We are a Nation that is approaching a very divided and tense time in our History ever. I'm both stressed and worried for America and at the same time, no matter what happens or fails to happen America is in my little home wherever that may be. Always. Patriots welcome.
Good luck everyone.Orangees and JimmyWells Thank this.
