Had a safety review this week.
Took the liberty of letting other drivers at my company go first.
We hired this guy last year (I think) and he’s been “problematic”. I usually get along with everyone and this guy ticked me off the first time I met him and has done nothing to improve my opinion of him. None of the other (sub management) people I’ve talked to at the company like him either. This is exceeding strange. We can’t agree on anything.
So I’m waiting outside the safety director’s office because she’s on a call and “trouble” barges in, goes right past me into the lion’s den.
Have fun chump!
I talk to the dispatch office across the hall about upcoming work while I see one of the executives go into the safety office. I can hear “trouble” arguing from here.
A short while later, they all come out fuming, and I’m next.
So basically, it doesn’t matter how many write ups *I* have, I just have to be nicer than *him*. Lol
(FYI, I got away with a wrist slap.)niceguy1970202, Jarhed1964, laaylor and 1 other person Thank this. -

I just read an article in Transport Topics that Swift and Knight is now deploying the Smart Drive camera systems in their entire fleet!

I know they claim it's for saftey but for me it's a sign of disrespect for you to put a driver facing camera in every Truck. Even if a company will claim it only records when you hit the breaks hard, swerve, or your head stays down for too long ? I don't think they'd be able to convince me that I'm not being constantly watched and I don't like that .foggy, Jarhed1964, UturnGirl and 1 other person Thank this. -

I have no idea: I’ve been driving for 16 years and the past 6 months is the only experience I have with this. PTL has the Lynx system: but; it’s only front facing: not driver facing unless you are on safety hold for a serious infraction... I know just in the last couple days the system caught an oversize load completely wrecking the front end of a truck pulling out of a Pilot in Knoxville and driving off; so, that’s a good thing...I also know that I got a safety call because I didn’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign getting onto a entrance ramp onto the highway about 2 weeks ago: ugh...like I said: I’ve been driving for 16 years: no tickets: no incidents... so, yes; it’s kinda annoying to be micromanaged by a freaking camera; but, it is what it is; I suppose..... at least as a female, I can cover the inside camera and microphone... so far; if not: I would be looking elsewhere for a job.

Best bet really is to feel out from other drivers how much the company enforces it. Do they have a pencil neck safety direction right out of school looking to enforce every rule? Or is the system broken half the time, repairs on back order and tapes monitored by that one guy in the warehouse that’s computer literate?
Extreme examples for sure but not unheard of.
