As I drive through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my job and realize there's nothin' left
'Cause I've been truckin' and haulin' so long, that
Even DOT thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never punched a dispatcher that didn't deserve it
Me be treated like a rookie, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you load and where you roll
Or you might be violatin' the vehicle code
I really hate Samsara, but I gotta log
It's a dog, it seems my location's in a fog, fool
I'm the ol' hand the little rookies wanna be like
Jammin' gears in the night, throwin' tarps in the daylight

Been spendin' most their lives livin' in the trucker's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives livin' in the trucker's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives livin' in the trucker's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives livin' in the trucker's paradise

Look at the situation they got me facin'
    I can't live a normal life, I got loads I'm chasin'
So I gotta be down with the road team
Too much recruiter lyin' got me chasin' dreams
I'm a truck drivin' fool with money on my mind
Got the wheel in my hand and a gleam in my eye
    I'm an old school trucker, diesel-blooded mutha-#####
And I don't take crap so deal with it sucka
Fool, the next load's nothin' but a mile away
I'm livin' life on the road, what can I say?
I'm workin' here now, but will I be here next week?
The way things is goin' it looks bleak

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me?

Been spendin' most their lives livin' in the trucker's paradise

Keep spendin' most our lives livin' in the trucker's paradise

Managed to make it to one of my favorite truckstops. The one with donuts as big as your head (their slogan, not mine). Clearwater, MN Petro. I am less than 6 hours away from my next stop in WI. Unfortunately, my final stop is still another 5.5 hours from there (plus Chicago traffic delays) and they stop receiving at 15:00 and they're closed Saturday and Sunday, so there is no way I can kick both stops off before the weekend, so I will get within 30 minutes of them and get another 34 in. The load info they sent said deliver by next Wednesday, so I am still running ahead of Arlingon's schedule. This month isn't quite as productive as last month, but I am still turning miles, so I will keep my nose to the 'ole grindstone, but not looking forward to the next few months. Already feeling a chill in the air in August, I am getting a feeling in the pit of the tummy that that dreaded 4-letter S-word will make an early appearance this year.

Well I’ve been stuck in West Palm Beach FL all week with injector issues - still nice and warm down here lol. I’m not ready either for the fluffy stuff, run the south young man lol.

I read somewhere years ago that the requirements to claim "free range" were something ridiculous like one single small door opening out into like a 10' x 10' area (from something like the gigantic warehouse pictured above). In other words, almost pure marketing B.S. Which seems to be par for the course nowadays.

I haven't raised chickens (yet) but I have been looking into it for years. My understanding is that the quality, nutrition (and taste) of the egg is directly proportional to the amount of nutrition the hen received. Which makes sense to me, and is largely why we want to keep our own chickens (we eat a lot of eggs). We do have a nice little garden going, and we have been making compost and collecting rain water for over 2 years now. Baby steps.

That’s the one draw back to the Genie loads, most rental places are not open on the weekends.

My dad and I both worked in the landscape supply business at a huge 35 acre stone yard. We would get all types of boulders in on pallets wrapped in wire cages. Customers were always wanting to pick single boulders out of the cages and that was a pain in the ###. So my dad had the idea to break a couple of pallets apart and spread them out on the ground in an open section of the yard. The called it the “Free Range Boulder” section. There was no upcarge like free range eggs though.
