There’s definitely something to be said about the reduced stress from cruising at a reduced speed than running as fast as possible all the time.

I don't chase miles and try to squeeze out everything I can out of my clock. That's how you burnout very quickly. I don't need every dime I can get my hands on. What I make running 10,000 miles a month is more than plenty

Also I'm only out 5 or 6 days. My 70 is almost never an issue. I can get the miles i need to during the week regardless of what speed I really go. It's a business, not a racenavypoppop Thanks this. -

Today is my last day of hometime and I can't wait to get back to work. I haven't gotten nearly as much done around home as I anticipated, but I got the urgent stuff taken care of. Now it's time to get back to the paying job.

Where I work now we make pretty good money. It’s 5 days a week and if you’re asked to come in on your day off you’re always paid bonus money on top of your wages. There was a guy in his mid 20’s that I met a couple months ago when he was training. He got out on his own for 3 weeks and put his notice in. His excuse was he didn’t need to work so hard and make as much money as he was making.

Got a preplan yesterday. Pick up in Plant City Friday afternoon. Deliver in Zanesville OH Monday evening. 3 days, 1010 miles. And, nobody moved me home in the system, so they tried to only pay me 14 deadhead miles (from where I delivered in Lakeland last Friday). So, once they got around to correcting my deadhead miles (to 152). I accepted the load. 1162 isn't the best start, and I suspect it won't get much better now that the honeymoon with the new guy is over, it really does look like 3-350/day is the best the average driver can do here. So I guess I better get used to not running how I prefer and just get used to being a seat warming steering wheel holder, because that's all they expect from their average driver.
