Well, chasing my 70 was an unmitigated disaster. My income over a month was pitiful compared to when I pushed harder, and I had no full days off for 34's, so it was the worst of both worlds.

I've advised my asset manager that I am going to run hard again, because I lost about 1500 dollars compared to what i should have made over a bit more than a month since my last time home.

    I run my 70 out then stop.Sometimes I can squeeze a 34 in during a run.

Yeah. That's how I prefer to run too. Ideally, I drive 10.5+ hours per day, and will work 14 hours to get as many miles in as possible if I spend a lot of time off duty at shippers or receivers.

He didn't give me a hard time about it. I think he really did give it a good try to get me miles, and discovered that when I push harder, it's easier for him to get me more miles. Since asset manager performance metrics are based on driver metrics, if I drive more, his numbers look better.

Great thread. Thanks so much for the facts. Makes the decision making process easier. Going back OTR in spring after driving 4yrs local. Call Florida home so looking to maximize miles on weeks coming home and going back out. These were very slow weeks while driving dry van for Conway when I first started. Hoping reefer changes that a bit. Looking to keep your same schedule.

I have always heard good things about Crete. It seems the drivers I talk to seem to have 7 or more years.

Merry Xmas right back at ya!

Shaffer got me home for Xmas, which was nice, but I wasn't able to flip my sleep schedule in a day, so i ended up coming back to the truck and driving 400 miles on Xmas day, rather than coming back to the truck and sleeping before driving those miles.
