The Princess and I finally spoke this afternoon. I politely asked that if I am ever "penciled in" on a load like that again... don't say anything to me about it and get my hopes up until it's confirmed and offered to me.

And I mis-spoke about my opinion about Mike...I spoke to a Mike, but after another chat with Deland, I realized it was a dispatcher named Mike, not the Ops Manager...so - I apologize for my confusion, and retract that statement (until something happens that justifies it's truth)

But I'm not quite to the "certifiable level yet" :)

if I haven’t already given it to you, let me know if you need minick information for future reference.. I’m supposed to be through Lincoln probably early next week to get the truck serviced and one thing I’m bringing up to Kutter and Aschoff snd even Ostergard if they’re sitting in the cafeteria, which they usually are is that the communication from the operation side has to drastically improve quit leaving us drivers in the dark and then going on the YouTube update and constantly chastising drivers telling us to communicate because the communication is horrendous from their side and it really does they do improve

I was given an Aurora to Los Lunas load but they pulled it from me after I had checked in, and didn't know about it until i had BOL in hand. They thought they had two of those loads but only had one, and they needed to get another driver home for the weekend.

I was a bit annoyed that they just sent a message vs calling but it was quickly rectified. They had me drop it in our Lincoln drop yard and had me swing over to Kawasaki to pick up a 3 stop dealer load. A bit less miles but overall more money due to extra stop pay, so it all worked out in the end with minimal fuss and hair pulling.

But i guess that's what happens when a company has competent office staff

That's exactly what it is. He comes in here boasting all proud as a peacock how "I told so and so blah blah blah" like he has some kind of power over these folks. He never gets it through his thick skull that the janitor carries more weight with these companies than the drivers. Then, he wonders why they start starving him out. It's the same old song and dance everywhere he goes. It's comical reading. That's why I read his threads. If we had an sense, we'd start a pool and each of us guess how long he'll last at his next attempt at finding a unicorn. Closest to the date he blows his stack and quits wins the pool money.

I ended up accepting the load to Lebanon IN. She mentioned that they have me penciled in on a load to WA after that (that's when I told her to not mention loads that I am not officially offered or that aren't a sure thing so I don't get my hopes up). We shall see if this one pans out, but I won't get my hopes up...some weeks I feel like the mule in the Little Rascals being lead around by a carrot in a stick only it leads me off a cliff... something like this

When I was on the phone with Deland, she not only mentioned the 401k match being suspended at Werner, but also she mentioned that they were told Walmart had instituted a nation wide hiring freeze, which means that outside carriers like us are going to be utilized to help cover freight that their drivers can't handle. She said that might mean that some national drivers here might be asked to help move Walmart freight(we did this right before the '08 recession). Not a very good sign of things to come with the economy when Walmart stops hiring.

Last I checked they did..now the million dollar question will be is whether they’re accepting the applications and just not processing them. I guess only they would know

Seems to be some slim Pickens for freight in the Pacific Northwest, especially Washington this week…
