You can look for info on them on carrier questions inside scoop section...I've heard more good on them than I have bad...they run reefer I think all 48 states and dry van for the western half only from Colorado west.... They hire students out of cdl school.... U can also check out their website

Thanks. Yea, I've looked at their website and even talked with a recruiter. It has been a few years since I have driven and they preferred that I go through a refresher course. I found a school that offers that type of training, now I just have to find a good company. I live in NV, so I would like to stay in the western states. I'll checkout the scoop section....

Im a driver from May and will be glad to answer any questions you have.

Thanks Hank,
Oh, just the normal questions, of course. Pay, hometime, etc... Are you a company driver or o/o? Are you in the refer of van division? How do they treat you? Mile/month average?
Thanks again. -
Well let me start off by saying that everyone has an opinion. Alot of people you will talk to spend more time in truck stops than on the road. They will be late more often than not and then complain about miles and not getting the "good loads".
Im a Company Driver. I drve hard because that is my job. We get paid by the mile and your delivery record is your reputation. I have never been late. Now to qualify this, I have only been driving for 3 months so Im not that far from where you are and I know what you are thinking. The only thing I will promise you is the truth.
I have been treated golden. I get home when I ask, if not early. It is a priority in the Pensacola Terminal to get you home when you ask. I average about 2600 miles a week(including 9 days off and on 3 day stint in Maintenance). I run around 3100 a week most weeks. We run mostly 387 Petes with some 379's. I started at .30 per mile. You get 500 a week during training. Your training length is dependant on your skill and not a set schedule. I was with a trainer for a week and then got my own truck.
We have a no idle policy(which everyone is going to). It isnt zero but 10 percent in the winter and 30 percent in the summer, but your driver Manager is not going to let you freeze or bake so dont worry about that.
I say all the with the understanding that I am very driven and do my job. I dont complain and just drive. I would suggest May to anyone staring out. If your gonna pay your dues you might as well get paid for it. 30 beats 26 every day of the week. Getting the miles dosent hurt either. -
Thanks. That is the type of info that I have been looking for. It's hard finding info about MTC. I too am very driven and I need to make as much as possible (who doesn't). I would like to find a company to pay my dues, but also one that I can stay with for the long haul.
MTC sounds pretty good. I have researched quit a few companies and so far, this one is at the top. I talked with a driver, in the van division, and he stays west of Colorado averaging about 2700 miles a week. He stated the same things you did. Good attitudes.
I have to go through a refresher course before I can start, so I am hoping for mid-May or so. Thanks again. -
If you decide on May are you going 14 western or 48? If you go 48 go to the Denver terminal. There is a guy there who was trained in Pensacola who is the asst Op Manager(Robert). I dont want to say anything bad about the other Terminals, but Pensacola has won top Terminal(Miles) all but one year since like 2002. The other year they were second. Denver is smaller(less trucks) but do well also. Company is definitely one you can hang with for a while. Im going to stay for a while, but Im going to broaden my skills. I think I will try flatbedding and some tanker work. If I decide I like vans I will go back with MTC. Hope all works out for you. Careful of the nay sayers and if you have any question just ask. If you talk to any May Drivers tell them you have a friend that is out of Pensacola. They very well may smirk. A lot of other terminal Drivers dont like P-cola because we always get miles. Same is becoming true of Denver.
